Buttons sat on their only spinning chair in the office. It was wooden and the wheels were squeaky but it worked rather well and it hadn’t broke, so it sat in their workspace. Knobs, Sniper, and Buttons had started a repair business together, and there wasn’t much they couldn’t fix without each other. They were were more than happy that this was how they lived, working in their mini warehouse with their boyfriends.

Knobs had been working on changing the locks on a clients house, Sniper was fixing and adding a few things to a gun that a client asked for. But today Buttons didn’t have anything to work on. He could make another blanket or beanie, but he felt comfortable with what he had already made. He didn’t have any requests for blankets or any custom makings of his. He had nothing, and was quite bored.

It was the official start of autumn—Buttons' favorite season. He found it crazy that some people didn’t like autumn. He wanted to go outside in the cold and put on a dumb orange scarf and a dumb rough black jacket. He wanted to look tacky and dumb, he wanted to embrace the weather with open arms and step on leaves that crunch under his shoes. But he didn’t want to go without his boys; Buttons just wanted to spend a nice afternoon with his boyfriends.

Buttons watched as Sniper's and Knobs’ rough hands worked on their separate projects. Watching them work usually calmed Button but today he was to antsy and just wanted to go out.

“Ay Snipe’, Knobs” Buttons called, trying to get their attention. Knobs set down his stuff giving Buttons a hum, looking to him.

“Yeah, Button?” Sniper responded. He kept his head down fiddling with the gun, seeming to try and find something.

“Can we go out today? I want to, like, go out on a date or something, just the three of us enjoying the new season,” Buttons asked. He didn’t want to keep his wants stuck in his head and he knew that they had time before they needed to get that stuff finished. There was always the possibility of them actually going; that’s all that mattered. Most things they fixed had personal due dates, but it took a stab at their pride if they had to get their stuff in a day or two late.

Knobs turned back to the lock huffing, “I don’t know B, I really gotta get this stuff done. I want to go out, but I really want to get these done, too.” Knobs returned to his work. Buttons only looked to the ground in defeat. Buttons really wanted to do this with them.

“Hey come over here, babe, I wanna show you something.” Sniper told him, keeping his eyes glued to the small pistol he was working on. Buttons walked over to Sniper’s workspace; it was a mess, but Buttons could see the outline of organization. Things fit where they needed to be, even if they were in piles or touching. Sniper handed the pistol to Buttons looking up to him.

“It doesn’t have bullets in it. Try shooting it at that wall and tell me why it needs to be fixed,” Sniper said, pointing to the empty wall next to them. So Buttons aimed the gun towards the wall and shot. There was no noise, no shot. Which surprised Buttons but he seemed to understand it fairly quickly. Buttons flipped the gun upside down looking it over; the gun seemed jammed.

“So, it’s a dirty gun? Gunk must be stuck inside the barrel or behind the trigger since it seemed to not move to smoothly,” Buttons guessed, still looking over the gun. Sniper stood up taking the gun and setting it on the workbench, he gave Buttons a kiss smiling midway into it. He laughed when they pulled away

“You’re learning so much, babe. I would love to go on a date with you but when we get home I’m gonna have to clean this gun,” Sniper said, smiling; the last thing he would want to do is refuse a requested date. He lived by the thought that he could die in the next day, so he was the first to say sorry and tell his feelings and the first to say yes to events he was asked to go to. It’s who Sniper is.

“Oh, bite me. You act like that ain’t the easiest thing to remember when it comes to guns.”

“Ay, I thought that was my job,” Knobs butted in, a small smile on his face as he looked up at his boys. Sniper laughed again. His boyfriends were adorable.

“Nope, biting hurts. I don’t like that stuff. Sorry, honey,” Buttons stated, turning over to Knobs. Knobs gave him an "are you sure about that?" look, a smile stuck on his face.

Sniper got close to Buttons’ ear and whispered in a low voice, “You sure you aren’t hiding any kinks from us, babe?” Sniper’s low voice and overall change of actions made Buttons’ face heat up and quickly turn red. Usually it was Buttons who messed with the boys like that, touching thighs, whispering sexual things at inappropriate places to say them (—the reason they don’t go to church anymore).

“Whatever you said Snipes, you’s right according to his reaction,” Knobs laughed. Buttons just walked over to him and made finger guns pretending to shoot him dramatically. Knobs pretended to be shot, then played dead in his chair, tongue out and all.

“You two are dorks,” Sniper said as he watched their antics shaking his head. “Where we gonna go on our date?” Sniper asked, changing the subject rather quickly. Buttons stood there thinking for a moment, Knobs looking up to Buttons for an answer.

“We could just go out and get coffee?” he suggested, not fully sure of it. Sniper thought it over for a second nodding satisfied with the answer. Knobs rolled his eyes.

“You guys are so extra, I swear to God. Count me in. You’re lucky I love you two,” he laughed. Knobs was happy to spend time with them but was still trying to stop keeping to himself so much. Plus, it’s no fair that they get to have fun while he’s stuck back in the workshop alone working. The two other boys cheered. Sniper went over to one of their much cleaner desks and picked up their keys.

“Well let’s lock this place up, we can head home and change into some warmer clothes,” Sniper said, swinging the keys on his finger. Knobs went and shut off the lights as they made their way out.

Once they were outside Buttons stopped them. "Wait, can we take a picture?” Buttons loved to take pictures with his boyfriends. It was the only thing in his photos besides the few he got with his friends. The other two agreed to it, getting close to Buttons as he brought out his phone.

Sniper kissed Buttons cheek from the left and Knobs put his arm around his boys, the two put on cheesy smiles as Buttons took the photo. Then they were off on their date ready to laugh and smile, to have a good time together.
