3 Things That Could End a Relationship

How to effectively avoid these three things and make your relationship stronger and better.

There are things that can surely end a relationship rather quickly, no matter how great the relationship seems to be. Very rarely does a relationship survive these pitfalls. In most cases, though, the relationship simply ends.

If you truly value the relationship and your partner, you will need to know what you should avoid, as well as know what you should be looking for that could potentially cause irreparable damage to the relationship.

Trust Issues

Many relationships end because of dishonesty and trust issues. If you want the relationship to last, you will need to be able to trust each other. If you can't bring yourself to trust and be honest with your partner completely, you're going to question each thing your partner does or what happens between the two of you.

You won't find it hard to find something to fight about with your partner. You'll end up blowing things out of proportion. Your partner may give you a reason to doubt his or her action, but you are only compounding the problem by choosing to argue and fight.

Perhaps you need to look more deeply as to why your partner isn't being open and honest with you.

  • Are you being open and honest with your partner?
  • How much of yourself do you share with your partner?

It may be that your partner doesn't feel like you are being open and honest with them, which is why they are keeping some things from you or doing things behind your back. You can't expect your partner to completely trust you if you aren't giving him or her the same measure of trust and honesty.

Cheating on Your Partner

Whether you are still in the dating stage or are already married, it's important that you remain faithful to your partner. Infidelity can cause a lot of self-esteem issues.

If you are the one being cheated on, it's normal to wonder why your partner had to find someone else to be happy. Anger is a normal emotion to have, especially soon after you discover your partner's infidelity.

When your partner cheats on you, you are hurt and feel betrayed. Some people feel they need to seek revenge. They think of ways to get back at their partner for their infidelity. Some even blame the person their partner cheated with.

Many marriages are destroyed by infidelity. Many people decide to end their relationship after they find out their partner has cheated on them. Don't let this be you.

Avoiding Your Partner

If you are constantly trying to find ways to avoid your partner, don't expect the relationship to last much longer. Those times that you do manage to be together, you're doing your own thing.

You hardly spend any quality time together. If you're married, you may be in another room while your spouse is in another. You're both home, but you aren't doing anything together, and worse yet, some resort to writing love letters or text messages instead of talking together one on one.

Whenever you get home from work, you immediately head straight to the bedroom, telling your spouse on the way that you can't talk or spend time with them because you're tired.

Or perhaps you feel like the romance has died, or that you want something different in the relationship, but you're afraid to tell your partner.

Regardless of your reason you're avoiding your partner, it is much better to simply end the relationship rather than continue pretending things are fine. Someone always gets hurt whenever a relationship comes to an end.

But if you feel you are ready to move on and be with someone else, be honest with your current partner. It's so much better to come out in the open than to lie, cheat, and avoid your partner.
