1. A New Type of Netflix and Chill

Start by making a blanket fort together. Make some popcorn (you can get adorable vintage look-alike popcorn containers at Dollar Tree, Walmart, or online!) Grab your favorite candies, slip into your favorite pajamas, and set up a movie by your fort. This is a comfortable and super cheap date idea (and can get spicy super quick).

2. Backyard Camping

You both want the romantic experience of camping under the stars but your wallets say otherwise. You can grab a cheap tent from Walmart (if you do not already have one) or borrow a tent. Set up the grill or fire pit for s'mores and hot dogs (or vegetarian options like roasting squash or peppers). You will need some essentials like a flashlight, drinks, music, pillows, blankets, a deck of cards, and your imagination. There is nothing like the stars and summer sweat. This is a good opportunity for opening up to each other so, try to keep the technology to a minimum.

3. Volunteer together.

Kindness is free!! So, what better thing to do than to share the kindness of your heart with your significant other. Give a helping hand at an animal shelter or soup kitchen in your area. If you want something more private, you can take a walk to one of your favorite parks and pick up litter. This date might not be the most glamorous but, you will have bragging rights and most importantly that good feeling in the heart, knowing you are spending time together while making the world a better place.

4. Comfortable Dinner Date

You and your significant other want to go out to eat but either cannot afford it or do not have the time to plan a date night. Little do you know, that all of the tools for the perfect date are right at home! Clean up the table area, put a nice centerpiece in the middle of the table, light some candles, and put on some soothing music. If you can afford it you could get restaurant carry-out. If you want to try cooking a simple recipe, all recipes is perfect for cheap, easy dishes. Dress up for your date and remember your table manners! Try to keep technology to a minimum so that you and your partner can connect

5. Rainy Day Date

To have the perfect rainy day date, sit by the window and watch the rain/storm together with a cup of coffee. This would be the perfect time to bring out the board games (and maybe turn them into drinking games), draw together, or have a video game tournament (winner gets a prize). Cooking together is also always fun, but you could try making the MasterChef kitchen in your own home. See who can make the best cake, dish, etc. Maybe the weather has you both stressed; this is the perfect opportunity for an indoor couples spa day. Take turns giving facials, massages, and enjoy a sensual bubble bath together (with some wine of course).

Why is it important to spice things up in your relationship?

Having the same routines can become boring. Trying new things, being creative, and making time for intimacy will help to keep one's relationship happy and healthy. There are so many unique ways to connect with a significant other but, sometimes we get too used to routines and forget about the adventures to be had. There is something new to be learned with each day. Today, I hope that the tools to create deeper connections can be learned through this article.
