A New Adventure

My Perspective

I visited a carnival four months ago, alone. Had no reason to stop. I was in a car I didn't own. I presume I was just that bored. So I walked around for a while after purchasing a candy apple and some apple flavored drink. I played a few games, including the one where you shoot the clown in the mouth 'til the balloon pops. I won because my opponent was a child—he looked about 10. I gave him the prize, a small dragon stuffed animal. He smiled. I actually wanted it for myself. I would've given it to my son. (Later, I bought him a random gift.)

Now for a while I had felt someone looking at me, but every time I turned around, I'd just see small crowds of people laughing and enjoying themselves. I love roller coasters and rides but unfortunately I get nauseous and dizzy quite easy. So I decided to walk through the haunted house, to try and get some excitement. It was very intimidating. And a few times I was actually afraid. I had still felt like someone was following me, and I could've sworn someone was trying to get my attention by whispering.

I made it out of the eerie haunted house. Through all the calls of the carnival attendants trying to get me to play their games or buy their food, I made it to a Ferris wheel. It couldn't be that bad. A few revolutions... And it got stuck at the top. Unbelievable! But I looked down and I heard someone yelling, "Dimples!" but I have trouble seeing things far away and that high up, all I could see was blurry people.

Finally the ride started to go down and I exited in haste. I was just ready to go, I had enjoyed myself enough. I made it to the car and as I was pulling out, someone was also pulling out from the other side. We bumped bumpers. I couldn't believe it. Busted lights and bent bumpers. On the scene we couldn't determine who was at fault. We exchanged numbers and I didn't want to move. So I didn't. And suddenly I see her... laughing as she's walking up to me. The most beautiful woman I had seen in a really long time. She was perfect in my eyes. Flawless stride, until she tripped on some of the wreckage. I caught her. She fell into my arms. And at that moment, I knew I never wanted to let her go. Her ankle was in a little pain so we walked back to her car. I rubbed it and wrapped it with a scarf she'd had in the passenger seat. It just seemed right at the moment.

We talked for a while. Her name was Danielle. And she had also randomly found herself at a random carnival on a random Monday night. But she wasn't alone. She was with friends, but she had sent them on their way so that she could catch up to me. She explained to me how she saw me and built up the nerve to follow me. I laughed, wondering why she didn't say anything in the haunted house. She said she was very afraid and nervous and once she had gotten in there she got lost and actually walked back out the front. She explained that she didn't catch up to me until the Ferris wheel. I let her know how blind I can be. She laughed. She said she had given up and just watched me walk to the parking lot. But when she saw the accident, she knew she had to come to me. I asked why she was laughing initially and she said she was just nervous and was thinking of a joke to say, then she tripped.

We decided to go find food, but neither of us could decide what we wanted. I left my car and we took hers. We ended up driving for three hours and were halfway to Los Angeles before we realized we had passed my exit, and hers. We just kept driving. We made it to Los Angeles two hours later, she rested on me after parking, and I finally fell asleep. I dreamed I was flying like I often do. Only this time when I started to descend, I wasn't afraid. It was a rough landing but when I looked up I saw her hand. I took it, and at that moment, her phone began to ring. It was her sister asking what happened. She responded, "You're not gonna believe it, and I will explain later." We said good morning, I kissed her forehead, and then we started our adventure in love.
