Another hard day at work and also another day for sadness to hit me. Because of that is why I'm right now walking in the rain. I walk to my job since my apartment is nearby. Whenever it rains it makes me feel even happier to walk in the rain since for some reason it calms me and makes me feel a bit better. Anyways I sometimes wish that I can live a different life than the one I live. Everyday I wake up, get ready for work, get there at 8 AM then leave at 4. I wish my life wouldn't be so terrible.
All of sudden as I'm thinking to myself someone bumps into me really hard that I'm knocked down to the ground and into a puddle of water. My hoodie and pants are now soaking wet and I'm pretty sure I'm hurting somewhere.
"Watch where you're going!" Says the man that knocked me down. I don't even attempt to say anything because I'm trying to hold back tears.
"Miss do you want some help?" I look to see a man who has bright blue eyes that light up this dark day. I can't see his face really since he has his hoodie up.
"Yes please if you want to."
"It's no problem at all." He holds his hand out to me and I take it. He helps me up and I lean against him until my balance comes back. "Your hand is bleeding." I look down to my left hand and my plan has three cuts.
"Just what I wanted to happen."
"Where do you live I can take you home."
"I'm only a few feet away from my apartment. Thank you for helping me up."
"At least let me walk you home, I don't want anything else happening to you." I don't know this guy but he just helped and he wants to make sure I make it home alright. I guess I should trust him.
"Okay you can walk with me."
"Great." I start walking and he follows me. "I'm Bradley by the way."
"I'm Gisselle, nice to meet you." Two minutes later we arrive at my building. "Would like to come in to warm up a little?"
"No there's really no need."
"Please Bradley it's the least I can do after all that you've done for me." He lets out a sigh then smiles at me.
"Okay I'll come in for a little while." I smile then turn around to open my door so we can go in. Once we're in he looks around my apartment then turns to look at me. He puts his hoodie down and I can look at his face now. He's really handsome with his blue eyes, his slicked back brown hair. He's a sight to see. "You should shower before you catch a cold." I look away since I know I'm blushing because I was staring at him.
"Yes I should. You can sit on the couch, watch TV and help yourself to anything in my fridge while you wait."
"Okay, thanks." I give him a smile then head to my room. As I shower I start thinking about Bradley. He's a really great guy for helping me and making sure I got home safe. I wonder if after today will I see him again. I finish up and then get dressed in grey sweatpants and a black long sleeve shirt. I head into the living room and see Bradley sitting on the couch watching TV.
"Hey." He looks up at me.
"Hey. Did you clean that cut?"
"Yeah." I look down at my hand that has three band aids. "I don't know how to thank you for helping me. I really thought that I was going to have to lay there and cry.
"It's no problem at all. There is one way you can thank me."
"Would like to go out to eat sometime this week?"
"Sure. That'd be great."
"Perfect. When do you want to?"
"I get off at 4 tomorrow so how about at 5?"
"Five it is. Nothing fancy just a casual restaurant."
"Perfect for me."
"Awesome. Look I gotta go, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Of course. Thank again for helping me today."
"You're welcome and it was no trouble at all." He says as I open the door for him he smiles at me and I smile back. I reach up and kiss his cheek. He chuckles a little then leaves. I close the door and head to my bedroom to pick out my outfit for tomorrow. It looks like things are looking up for me.
The next day I rush home to shower, get dressed, and make sure I look okay. There's a knock at my door. I go to answer and there's Bradley looking handsome and he has a single red rose in his hand. He extends it out towards me.
"A rose for you because it's as beautiful as you and you deserve it." I take the rose and hold it against my chest.
"Thank you Bradley no one has given me something like this."
"Well you can expect more from me as long as you let me be around you."
"Then I better be ready because I don't you away from me."
"I'm glad to hear that. Shall we get going?"
"Of course." I leave my apartment and walk with Bradley to wherever he wants to take me. I can tell that I need this man in my life because I am smiling right now and I haven't smiled this big in many years.
