An Unexpected Love

Reece Curtis has struggled his entire life, having many mental illnesses that have caused his parents to disown him. He was accepting that he would be looked down on and an outcast for the rest of his life. That's why he didn't think much of his trip across town for a music gig that he luckily was able to get. He was just happy to get extra money. That is...until he met Zack.

Seeing Him

Reece had arrived at the small café across his town after a fifteen minute drive. It wasn't long at all, which he was thankful for. It wasn't his first time playing at this café, so he wasn't as nervous as he would normally be. He parked in his usual spot, on the far end of the parking lot, before getting out of his car, keys in hand. He was wearing his usual clothes despite it being summer. He knew his dark skinny jeans, black shirt, black Converse, and his jacket made him stand out to others, seeing as they wore shorts and tank tops in the blistering heat. He didn't care much though, used to standing out and being looked at weirdly. Plus, despite nearly dying of heatstroke every day, he felt comfortable in his layer of clothes, having something to hide behind.

He walked around the car to the passenger door and opened the bright red door that matched the rest of the older mustang. He folded the seat down, bending down in order to grab his guitar case along with the worn journal that was on top of it. He held both items closely, using his hip to close the door again, keeping the seat down for later. He glanced around, shifting the guitar case to grab his keys, locking the car before starting to head toward the café doors.

Once he reached the doors, he spotted a male who was opening one of the doors for himself. This caused him to pick up his pace a bit to try and get there before the door closed on him. He was lucky when the male spotted him, a smile coming to his face. His dark brown eyes that at the same time had a softness to them locked on Reece's green ones.

"Easy, I'm not going to slam the door on you," he chuckled, sending Reece another smile as he stepped back, holding the door for him.

Reece sighed in relief and smiled at him, slowing down once he reached the door. "Thank you.." he told him, gratefulness for the help obvious in his tone as he entered the café.

The male shook his head, watching him before following behind him into the small building. "No problem. Happy to be of assistance," he chuckled, looking to his guitar case then back to him. "You're the performer for the day?"

Reece glanced back at him and raised an eyebrow. "What gave that away?"

The male grinned at him, humming in mock thought. "I'm not sure. Maybe the guitar case, but you can call it a hunch," he smiled amusedly.

Reece hummed, nodding. "Of course. A hunch, sure," he smiled a bit before gesturing toward the stage. "Well, I need to go set up. Thank you again for holding the door," he told him before heading toward the small stage.

The male watched after him and smiled. "No problem," he sighed softly, glancing around before going to take a seat at the nearest empty table by the stage. He wanted to see what talent Green Eyes had up his sleeves.
