It’s amazing how the little things can prompt so many memories to come flooding back to you. Brief conversations, places, objects, songs, sometimes your mind just wants you remember. Remember things you’d forgotten pushed to the back of your mind, sensations your body had forgotten they had once revelled in. The human body mesmerises and yet confuses me, especially with someone whose mind is so complex.

I’ve actually been dreading writing this one, I couldn’t tell you why exactly. It’s been just over a month so I need to tell this story before it disappears from my mind completely. It is ever so slightly, still raw. Sometimes I think I fail at putting how I really feel into words. Maybe it comes across more passionately than I actually feel, maybe it sounds like I feel more than I do. The truth is I’m usually well over someone I dated for a brief time. I think this one really got under my skin.

What is love? Have I ever even been in love? What is the meaning of love? These are the questions I ask myself since being truly single the past few weeks. I question everything. The beauty of my anxiety, it makes you think about every aspect of your life and what you’ve done wrong. At almost 1 AM I wish my mind would quiet, these are the times I wish my post breakup insomnia would disappear. The only thing to help is writing and drinking, or so I say to excuse my recent alcoholism.

So scene opens. Picture an overweight, blubbering mess—hasn’t been washed or left the apartment in days. Not much in the way of food is evident, and a mountain of empty wine bottles from the local Tesco express. Bonus of staying in an apartment that’s above a supermarket when you’re going through the worse breakup imaginable.

Introduction to Broken
How do you start to begin to tell the story of whirlwind disaster that is my dating life? A never ending reel of disappointment. Many people have told me I should share my story because they thought it was funny, maybe it was just my delivery of the stories. I’ve got to admit there are many funny moments I’ve had in my life. But sat here now in the midst of my post anxiety depression/anger state, I can’t think of the funny side. Just the string of heart break, disappointment and disgust.

How do you even begin to explain how the modern man, or should I say boy. Because that's how I see these f*ckboys after they play their childish games. Some girls don't know how this game of cat and mouse operates, but after countless encounters I am well-versed and quite the seasoned player. The only way to win the game is to not play at all. If you suspect a guy to be a f*ckboy, walk away. But the challenging ones are the kind you don't see coming. They are the worst betrayal and the hardest knocks to your ego.

The Black Widow and The Angler Fish
I focus on the cracked paving stones as I walk in the mid-March darkness. The cold air lapping at my post shower face. I had decided today that I would turn my life around. Deleted dating apps, check. Focused on work, check. Positivity overboard, check. Even told my best friend about my new plan and my positivity. Obviously with her knowing me so well she came out with the comment ‘We’ll see how long that lasts before you’re back to it’ Thanks Joy. But to be fair she has dealt with me for the past three months and heard it a lot in that time. She’d put up with so much, I could see a wave of relief come over her face, because we would be moving in together in the next few months.
