More Than Just Coffee
Growing up 20 minutes outside of Washington DC gave me plenty of things to do and exposed me to all kinds of cultures. If I got tired of being at home, I could hop on a bus or Metro to the free Smithsonian museums or eat authentic Korean fried chicken Chesapeake blue crabs to top it off with DC’s classic Mumbo sauce. My neighbors were African-American and Hispanic, the church I went to Asian, and my classmates had roots from everywhere: India, Jamaica, El Salvador, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Vietnam, to name a few. I was at the epicenter of racial and cultural diversity. I graduated high school hopeful that people in college were going to expose me to even more people from different walks of life.

- First Place in Women Who Inspire Challenge
To Infinity, and BeyondFirst Place in Women Who Inspire Challenge
8:30AM feels late to me now, but in college it was the crack of dawn. Nonetheless, I took Art History at that early hour so I could pack all my classes into two days. Every Tuesday and Thursday morning during the second semester of sophomore year, I chugged a thermos of coffee and stuffed a Pop Tart in my mouth as I rushed into class. My hair was a bird’s nest and I wore whatever was easiest to grab from my dresser. I fought to stay awake despite the interesting material and the professor who was nothing but wonderful.

Does My World Still Turn When You're Not Around?
One of my most unredeemable qualities is my inability to move on. While it’s not as bad as it used to be, up until high school I used to love people feeling bad for me whenever I went through hard times. I wanted to hold grudges for everyone who had wronged me growing up so that I could chastise them in my writing and artwork. If I were lucky and got famous enough to be on a talk show or win an award, the plan was to definitely make the point of calling them out on national television.

Contouring and Highlighting
Makeup has existed to enhance and beautify the appearance of the body. Cosmetics have been around since the beginning of time and have evolved drastically depending on the fashion and beauty trends of the decades and centuries that have gone by. Most makeup nowadays consists of products made out of creams, liquids, powders, pencils, or rouge. After YouTube came to be, many girls and women started creating makeup tutorial videos and became self-proclaiming “beauty gurus.” They started developing nuanced makeup techniques, one of the most popular being contouring and highlighting.
