Saturday Night Bible Study
Who has been dragged to bible study when they where young? We all had to do it, and sometimes it was even fun. Fast forward about ten years. I had just gotten out of a very abusive relationship. I wasn't looking for a new boyfriend. This guy seemed pretty nice, so I had decided I would hang out with him a bit. For a few weeks we would just sit out on my porch and talk. He was easy to talk to. He seemed like a good 'ole country boy. Right down to the dirty cowboy hat. He even had a can of tobacco in his back pocket and called me ma'am. Sounds like the beginning of a cute country movie, right? Wrong! So very wrong.

Kuri - How She Came to Be
Kuri was the beloved home robot of the Jefferson family. She had been programmed years ago, when her model was the top of the line. She was capable of calling, texting, capturing pictures, playing music, videos, and everything you would ever need a robot to do. The Jefferson’s had originally received her from NASA, under the pretense of reviewing any potential errors. They confirmed the Kuri model was ready to hit the market. Mrs. Jefferson had found her to be so helpful around the house, she sent in a request to keep the very first model. They finally agreed, after a month of waiting. As the family changed so did Kuri. She adapted to the different needs as the time passed. The Jefferson’s had a set of twins a year later. John, the father, was ecstatic to have two bundles of joy. Anita, however, died during child birth. It had proved too much for her. She passed away just after she held them both.

PTSD Part Two
I left off in Globe, AZ where my mother had stabbed herself in the leg in an attempt to save my father’s soul. In her delusional state, she had went into hysteria about this. I will continue this story in an effort to show just how devastating mental illness can be, if left untreated.

Boon Docking - Phase Two
First week living in the fifth wheel has been a success! The weather out here hasn't been the best. We live in the southwest, so we are caught between the winter cold and the spring monsoons. That hasn't stopped us from enjoying our new life! For those who are just new to this thread of boon docking stories, we live in (and around) Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. It's a great little town in Sierra county. We are famous for our hotsprings, and not only have the Rio Grande river but also Elephant Butte and Caballo lakes! If you're ever looking for a great place to take a vacation, or just looking to get out on the water look us up!

PTSD
Let’s talk about PTSD. Most of us connect PTSD with war and our military. While it is prevalent with our veterans the media fails to tell the story about those of us who have gone through something so traumatic in life that we are left scarred for life. Yes, many of the “Millennial Generation” use that phrase often. What they don’t realize is it is a very serious disease. How many of you have had a death in the family, it sticks with you. In some cases that loved one that passed was very close with you. You hoard pictures and memorabilia to remember them. You take them out from time to time and reminisce on the happy times you spent together. But you refrain from remembering their death. You don’t want to think about something so terrible. So heart breaking. Now imagine you can’t choose what you remember or when you remember it. That alone would be nerve racking right? That’s how PTSD works. Only most of those memories you don’t want to remember are terrible, frightening experiences. I’m going to tell you what happened to me, how I was diagnosed at age 11, and how I finally became comfortable telling others about what happened.

A Quick Reminder
We're rounding the end of the second month this year. How many of you made a resolution? Are you still pursuing it? If not, that's ok. I stopped making a New Year’s resolution a long time ago. There's so much pressure for us to just come up with something to better ourselves. But, do we really think about it? I personally think that we should make an effort everyday to better ourselves, in one way or another. Speak a little kinder. Be more positive. Take the stairs when you go to work. Park a little further away at the grocery store. Don't feel bad for not actively pursuing that resolution. There are opportunities every day to make a better choice for yourself.

Boon Docking
So recently my boyfriend and I decided to buy a fifth wheel. We had notions of buying a house and just minimizing the amount we go out. Luckily, though, the plan fell through and we started talking about boon docking. We had talked about this before but never really went through with it. We had even gone as far as buying a huge 39’ fifth wheel. We had all kinds of ideas as to what we were going to do to get it ready to live in, and even started some of the work on it. However, we never really got it together and bought a smaller one just to go camping in. It was a great trailer, and we made a lot of memories taking that thing out. One thing that stuck out to us was that when it came time to leave, we were so comfortable out there we just didn’t want to go home.

Karma: Continued
In my last post, we discussed the what ifs and questions pertaining to Karma. How does it affect us and to what magnitude? Do we accept it as part of fate or do we have more influence than that? I think we do. You know that saying, “Do unto others as you would have them do to you?” What if that’s more than just an old saying. Can we change the blessings we receive? If we make the conscious decision to do good every day and take into consideration the effect, we have on others we in turn are making that same decision for ourselves.
