Boyfriend Leaves 13-Year-Old Brother at Chinese Restaurant

My worst date experience is about a 13-year-old being held hostage at a Chinese restaurant.

#MyWorstDate was really embarrassing at the time, but now that I look back on it, I can't help but laugh.

Here's how it all started...

I was still in my teens and in high school. I had my older brother drop me off at my boyfriend's house who was also a high school student from another local school.

First of all, I wasn't allowed to be dating this guy because my parents were against me dating, so I had to say I was going elsewhere when I went to see him—mind you, every time I had my brother drive me, he made me pay him.

Anyways, we were hanging out and it was a beautiful day. His little 13-year-old brother was our third wheel and anywhere we went, he had to come along too.

Not too long after hanging out, my boyfriend at the time and his little brother were hungry.

They wanted to go to a Chinese buffet and they didn't have much money, their parents weren't home, I didn't have any money on me, and due to our ages, obviously none of us had a credit card, so I decided I would be okay if I didn't get anything to eat.

Prior to arriving, they had called in and asked how much it would be to the exact penny for their dishes, and they managed to scrounge up the exact change before going.

We had to walk there since none of us were old enough to drive. Upon arrival, we all sat down in a booth and the boys ordered their dishes and drinks while I hungrily watched them eat and pretended to be okay with my boyfriend not budgeting to get me anything.

Little did I know, they didn't even budget for themselves to eat.

Once they finished their meals and the check had come to the table, I saw my boyfriend's eyes widen.

The bill was nearly four dollars extra than what they had brought with them—they forgot to count in the amount for drinks!

There was absolutely no way they were going to be able to pay the extra four dollars since they didn't bring anything extra and I didn't have anything either, so after some brief arguing with the Chinese lady, my boyfriend just handed her the money he had brought and said "I'm leaving!"

The Chinese woman was like, "No, you pay full bill or we call cops," and he went back and forth with her, saying that was all they had. She even made him call his mother, who stated she was at work and wasn't able to bring any money.

He eventually gave up and just looked at me and his little brother, said, "Let's go," and started to walk out.

I was then trapped between his little brother begging us not to leave, the Chinese woman threatening to call the cops, and him just walking out. In a hasty decision, I just followed behind him and we looked back as we walked out the door. The Chinese woman was holding his little brother hostage!

She literally wouldn't let him leave until someone came and paid the rest of the tab.

His little brother looked like he was about to start crying but my boyfriend had absolutely no mercy, called him an idiot for staying, and left him there!

He and I walked back to his house—my heart was racing, I thought we were going to be arrested for failing to pay a $4 tab, and that my parents were going to find out I was dating.

Thankfully, we were never arrested and after a couple of hours, his little brother still hadn't made it home. It was starting to get late and I called my brother to pick me up.

I have no idea what happened to his little brother after that. I imagine his mom had to leave work to bring the rest of the money, but needless to say, I never saw the family or went on another date with him again.

I'm still amazed at how he just abandoned his 13-year-old brother at a Chinese restaurant!
