Captivated

I had to use Cameron's full name because if I didn't you wouldn't understand the importance of this chapter. They say you're supposed to save the best for last, but I was certain that I couldn’t wait that long to write this one.

First things first, he's just adorable. He's like one of those puppies you wanna wrap up and take home with you. The one thing that amazes me about him being that way is you don't really see him as such. It's hard to explain. He's adorable, but all grown up at the same time. You can place him in your pocket or dress him up in a suit and tie within the same twenty four hour period. He's two completely different people, two halves of a whole that blend perfectly.

Cameron has an endless list of amazing talents. From the way he plays guitar, to his incredible voice; down to his films and his photography, and just his simple ability to lead people and in turn make those people want to follow him.

He took on the role as our Student Association President our senior year. As SA treasurer that year, I got the opportunity to get to know the little things about Cameron. Like how much he loves rapping. I'd spend my Tuesdays stuck (willingly) in the SA Booth (this little store in our cafeteria that Student Association runs where you can buy all the food that's terrible for you) with him while he rapped about everything. From random food to whatever classes he had that day. He could make anything rhyme and eventually his crazy raps had a flow of their own.

I also caught the slightest glimpse of how incredible his voice is. He can harmonize with anything, absolutely anything. A lot of my favorite music now, came from the days I spent with him and his waterproof speaker that he stuck to the fridge for the hour we spent in the booth.

I also discovered that he knows more than he lets on. I guarantee that there’s plenty of things we just figured out, that Cameron has known from the beginning. He pays attention, without letting on to the fact that he’s listening.

Knowing him is knowing what it means to be inspired, to see an art in all things. Knowing him has made me appreciate every living thing, and love every being with an intensity that can only be appreciated by the purest of people.

Cameron also captures people's attention without even trying. I don't even think he notices and that's what brings me to my biggest revelation about Cameron. He doesn't seem to comprehend the impact he has on people's lives. He doesn't understand his uncanny ability to draw people in. He underestimates his addictive personality and beautiful spirit.

Cameron is the The Valley's most admired. I've overheard and participated in my fair share of conversations that consist of sharing moments and memories about him. Cameron truly captures all of us, he's essential to The Valley's worth and survival. Without him, we'd have so much less to love. We'd lose someone to appreciate for all of their many talents. We'd neglect our ability to love people for who they are. While he's here with us, he gives us that strength and ability. And hopefully he'll continue to, if we're lucky.

This boy is captivating. There is nothing in this world that can contradict that statement. He’s always been exactly what The Valley’s been waiting for. He’s always encompassed what The Valley stands for: art, talent, music, simplicity, authenticity, love, light, power, and humility. He’s been and always will be the most captivating, awe inspiring thing The Valley has ever seen.
