It didn't take ten minutes before the back door flung open and she stood there in all her majestic mercy.

“What could you possibly have to say to me?” I barked.

“Well howdy fuckin' do to you too!! What, I can’t come out to say hello?”

“I don’t know why you would.”

“Because I miss you, I care about you, no matter what, you still mean the world to me!”

“You miss me?” I chuckled and took a drag off my smoke. “What’s the matter? Captain Fantastic in there not doin it for ya?”

Brushing her hair back behind her ears, she looked to the ground. “It's not like that Shock, you don’t understand, it's complicated.”

“Seems pretty simple from where I stand! You turned your back on me and chose someone else, now you’re miserable. Am I wrong?”

“It's not that bad, and he’s a really great guy, he ummm…… ya know…. he’s just got some issues. I love him Shock, I really do.”

I scoffed. “Oh yea? Just like you loved me.”

“Fuck off, this is different. There isn’t ten years’ worth of history here, he is so much different from you.”

“Wasn’t that kinda the point? Anyone but me?”

“C'mon dude, that isn’t fair. You know I loved you. I just… I couldn’t….”

“Yea, I guess you couldn’t. Whatever, fuck me anyway right?... So, is there any point to this whole little masquerade? I mean you know this is my bar, why else come here together if not to rub my nose in it?"

Looking at the ground again, as if she were embarrassed, “Honestly he wouldn’t let me come alone. I told him I was coming out to see you as soon as we got back to town and he didn’t like that, not one bit."

“Can’t say I blame him; I'd be jealous of me if I were him too.” I let out a little bit of a chuckle.

“Look Shock, we're moving back to town and I want to make sure that you and I can still be friends. You have no idea what it's been like not talkin' to you at all in the last year and a half.”

“What are you fucking retarded? You turn your back and fucking bounce on me at one of the lowest points of my life. You completely disappeared for almost two years, and now you want to walk back into my life and ask me to accept less than I fucking deserve from you, you’re out of your rabid-ass mind!”

“Dude, why’s it gotta be like that? Like what the fuck dude, it's been almost two years. I was trying to give you time to heal.”

“I was doing just fine too… until you walked your happy ass in here arm in arm with that fuckin' douche canoe.”

“Well I’m sorry, I didn’t realize that it was going to cause you to flip the fuck out.”

“What else should my reaction be? I haven’t seen or heard from you since you told me you just can’t do it anymore, that you’re tired. And then I hear from someone else you got this other little fuck toy in tow probably before you ever sent me that little dear john message. And now you think what? That I'll just be sanguine? Yea just call me the fucking Sanguinator.”

“I promise you, I swear on my kids, you and I were done before I ever even met him.”

“Yea but for how long? Did I not pay enough attention to you? Was I too busy rebuilding my life after losing everything in the fire? Like what the fuck dude, I'm just supposed to be okay while you’re out…"

Just then the back door flung open and I see some Pauly D looking, pretty-boy type leaning out the door asking if everything is okay. I took a deep breath, and I looked at her and said, “Take care of your fucking pet. Im outta here.”

“Shock, this isn’t fair, c'mon just talk to me please. Hey….”

I yelled across the parking lot, “LIFE ISN'T FAIR, HOW DO YOU THINK WE GOT HERE?” And without a second thought I was back in my truck. I put it in first and dumped the clutch. I was hoping to shower the two of them with a bunch of rocks, but I just made a lot of noise and a big mess.
