I was head over heels. Ever since I laid my eyes on you. I did everything to be a perfect girlfriend, yet you betrayed me....

Cheater

Night of Winter Formal:

I decided to stay home on the night of our Winter Formal. I was browsing Facebook admiring my high school crush, let's call him Dylan. As I was browsing Dylan's page a notification popped up saying he had uploaded a photo.

"Oh great, I wonder what lucky girl got to go with him."

It was a photo of him playing some video game explaining his controller was his date... So I messaged him....

"You didn't go to Formal either?"

"Nah that stuff is lame."

"Oh, I wish I could have gone with you."

"You should have just asked!"

Fast forward a couple weeks and we were talking nonstop. On Presidents' Day weekend someone threw a party and he asked me to go. I told him no, but that he could go. So he did.

Red Flag: If a guy goes to a party even though you're not with him and drinks... walk away.

He was, what I assumed, drunk texting me. He asked me to be his girlfriend and him being the popular guy he was, I said yes faster than I could even think to respond. My birthday was the following Tuesday, January 22nd, and we went to the movies where he bought all the extras and I was so happy...

Through all the Football and Basketball games I had made shirts that showed his number, "22", my lucky number, to show that I'm a supportive girlfriend..

8 months into our relationship, he had an Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook where I only had Facebook. I mentioned I should make the other two so we can say we are together on social media and he flat out denied me.

Red Flag: Walk away from someone who doesn't make you feel loved or showed off.

So I said okay.. and yes I skipped the segment about summer because he was always "busy" so we never hung out.

Red Flag: Nobody is THAT busy. Walk away.

Starting our senior year, people started asking if we had broken up and I said no. Why would they think that, right? Well some of the "popular" girls brought to my attention that they had seen him with another girl all summer and that it wasn't me.

Red Flag: Don't be blinded by love. People wouldn't just lie for no reason..just WALK AWAY

Well when I brought it up to Dylan...

"Babe people said you were with someone else all summer and that it wasn't me..?"

"They are just jealous Maddie,"

Oh by the way, my name is Cat. No where near Maddie

Red Flag: He would not call you by the wrong name 8 months into a relationship...

Well I made an Instagram and looked him up..

"That's not me and him in his picture....wait there is a locked emoji with the date 1/22/13??? We started dating the 20th.."

"Hey..."

"Why is your Instagram like that..."

"Like what..."

Red Flag: They know what, walk away immediately.

"A picture with some other girl? "

No response.

"You started dating some girl when you were physically with me on my birthday?"

No response.

"Dylan, you've been dating someone else for almost a year the entire time you were dating me? You said you loved me."

"I'm sorry. I love Maddie. We're done."

"Yeah, so are you and her I just told her."

"I was just kidding babe. Love you."

"Okay. I love you too."

This relationship went on for another year as he continued to cheat and lie to me. Girls and boys please recognize red flags early on.. They just aren't worth the heartache.
