10 Things Not to Post on Social Media While You're in a Relationship
With the rise of social media comes the inevitable need to showcase our social status as often as we can. The internet has now made it an easy place to brag, complain and share our lives, with apps like Snapchat that make it simple to snap a photo and let all your friends know you had lasagna for dinner and have it disappear in 24 hours.

We've all been there before: you answered the questions, wrote a little bit about yourself in the profile section, posted it online with the cutest selfie you could find, and despite the vast amount of lonely emotions that are swimming in your chest, you're debating about whether or not it might be a good idea to reply to smooth_operator69.The good news is that if online dating doesn't seem to be working for you just yet, you're not alone. More than one-third of all people who use online dating sites have never actually gone on a date with someone they met online. But if that means that two-thirds of online daters are in fact, getting dates and going out with other single online daters, then why isn't your photo of your adorable chihuahua not bringing in more suitable candidates who like dogs into your DMs?! The reality is: people are out looking, and if you’re single, the dating market is at its prime. The question is: do you have a dating profile that’s up for the challenge? Here are some tips on how to create the perfect online dating profile:

The first thing you need to know about me is that I’m a hopeless romantic, probably to a fault. I would be lying if I tried to say I haven’t dreamt of meeting a handsome stranger’s eyes across a crowded room and all but literally floating towards each other while the crowd parts in awe and fireworks are going off somewhere in the distance because true love has been ignited. But one day, after dragging myself out of yet another of these reveries, I said to myself… “Self, please. Let’s be real here. The chances of that happening are slim to none. No one looks at each other anymore. The dating scene has shifted almost entirely to swipe apps. You’re a lonely sack of potatoes right now so maybe you should just give the internet a shot. You never know what could happen.”

My experience with online dating started almost four years ago when I found myself in my mid-forties, divorced after 21 years of marriage and a single mom of three teenagers. I wasn't all that keen on online dating, but the physical groups that I had heard of, Parents Without Partners and such, no longer had any local groups. So online dating was the only option I was able to find.
Online Dating Sites
After 21 long years of marriage I found myself divorced, a single mom with three teenagers and facing the prospect of dating again for the first time since college. I was no longer a young, fresh co-ed; here I was in my upper forties starting over and I didn't know where to begin.
Online Dating
After 21 years of marriage I found myself divorced, a single mom to three teenagers and having to date for the first time since college. Now I wasn't a bar person in college and I sure wasn't a bar person now, so how was I going to meet people. Online dating was the only option that I really knew of and so I gave it a try, and by a try I mean I tried a little of everything.
My Ex, Who Also Happens to Be My Best Friend and Life Savior
It all started in November of 2014. A young, vulnerable girl was unable to sleep. Exposed to unimaginable things already, when only 13. I had to deal with pain and exhaustion, just from my own head. I was drowning, and no one saw it. I was touched as a young girl, and all my problems sprouted from that point. I hated myself, and it only got worse from there.

So there I was a few months out of my only adult relationship wondering how the hell I would ever connect deeply with someone of the opposite sex again. You become so comfortable with one person over 17 years that it seemed impossible to me that I would know the first thing about how to behave with someone new.

I made it to 31. One year older and another year wiser. I was out enjoying drinks with my younger sister, and after many laughs and shots she suggested that I join a popular dating app that millions of people use. She stated that she knows couples who have met through the site and some have even gotten married. I was unsure about it. After reading countless stories of dates going wrong, I dismissed her sentiment. As 2018 approached I thought of all the countless things I want to carry out in the coming year. One of those accomplishments is to discover love and happiness.

So if you’re a Millenial, I am sure you are familiar with Tinder. Heck even Gen X is on board! So are there happiness and love stories that come from Tinder like you see on Match.com commercials? Well, from personal experience and those that I know, Tinder seems to be a hooking up app, very similar to POF (Plenty of Fish). Swipe left, swipe left, swipe left, ooooo swipe right, swipe left, swipe left, ooooo swipe right, IT’S A MATCH!!! That oh-so amazing feeling when you have matched with a hot guy, and he thinks you’re hot too! So do you message him first? Or do you wait for him to message you? If you wait too long, will he think you aren’t interested and “Unmatch” you? Oh, the struggles and emotions that we women come across and feel when simply swiping on our phones!
Adulting 101: How to Make Friends
I grew up in a tight-knit community. Throughout my life, friendships always formed naturally, whether in the neighborhood or the school I attended from kindergarten to the twelfth grade. My parents were also youth leaders in our church, so I made lots of friends with kids from other schools in my city. I was close with the same kids until we graduated and dispersed for the next step in life. To this day, we still keep in touch; they were a vital part of who I am as a person.
Distance Makes the Heart
I am currently in a modern day, long distance relationship. "K," as I will refer to my boyfriend from here on out, and I met through Instagram. That's right. He followed me, I followed him back. He liked my pics, I liked his back. Modern day insta flirting is what I like to call it. One thing led to another and now we are in an exclusive committed relationship. I'm living in California and K lives in North Carolina. He is in the military, a lifestyle I knew very little about starting off, and I am a nanny.
