Family

You don't need to be blood related to be family.

Many people would say that you have to be blood related to be family, but they are wrong. Your friends and the people you care about are your family. We grow up with a difficult childhood in which we think we are alone and that we don't have a family, but we do. Just look around you, look at your friends, and you will see the truth. They are your family. Family means a group of people who love and care about you, it doesn't mean they need to be blood related to you. Your significant other, your friends, or your pets are your family.

When you go through so much in your life there are those who cheer you up. You don't even see that when you are in school, you have a family. You aren't alone at all. You have people who love you and care about you. You have those around you who have been by your side for a long time. If you think about those who have been by your side through all your hardships, breakups, loss, or anything else you face, the truth comes to light.

Family, there are so many definitions about it. What is your definition of family? Does it truly matter if you are blood related or not? The answer is no. Family means those who don't hurt you, those who don't make you feel worthless. Family is a group of individuals who are by your side.

Deep in our hearts we need to remember one thing out of all of this: cherish the moments you have. While time goes by, we lose our family and we find ourselves alone again. Please cherish the moments you have. Stick together until the very end. Once everything is gone, it's gone for good. Cherish and love your family with all your heart. They are what helped you become the person you are today.

Family, it truly doesn't matter if we aren't related. We know who has stuck by our side. We know the real meaning of family. We know to cherish the moments we have. Stick by each other's side. You know what family is. You know who is your true family.

I am saying all of this because I have gone through my life knowing this. I have my friends and co-workers who are like family to me. My family ended up giving up on me long ago, but I have a new family who I love dearly. I have the man I love and a child on the way who are my family. I know what it is like to have blood family who doesn't feel like family at all. Yeah, they are related to you but it's the feeling in your heart that tells you if they are really family or not.

Friends and the people you know and love become family by chance. Sometimes they can prove wrong and you end up not knowing who your real family is. Believe me when I say the feeling can be difficult to comprehend. Follow your heart when it comes to knowing who your family is. Don't let your emotions or judgment ruin that choice. You can either have family or no family, it's your choice. Sometimes we are faced with this decisions. I am saying all these things because I don't want people to go through the same thing I did.

Look around you and you will find the answer. Who is your true family? Do they treat you like an equal? Do they blame you for things you didn't do? Do they make you happy? There are so many questions you need to ask yourself. Either way, this is your choice and not anyone else's.

I am not trying to sound ignorant. I am trying to prevent anyone from feeling alone or doing something insane. We have a family, we just don't know it yet. We can choose who we want in our life. We choose our family. We don't need to be blood related to be family. We can just have friends who are like family.
