Felicity Huffman And William H. Macy Trade Sweet Notes On Twitter To Celebrate Their 20th Wedding Anniversary

American Crime's Felicity Huffman and Shameless's William H. Macy are a great Hollywood love story. The couple just celebrated 20 years of marriage, and they had already been together for a decade and a half prior to that.

They have spent most of their lives with one another, and proving their love is strong, the dedicated pair took to social media on Wednesday and shared their connection with their fans, with Huffman posting on Instagram and Macy posting on Twitter:

But their path to true love wasn't easy. In 2015, Huffman admitted to the Tribune News Service that she'd been scared of losing her identity if she got married, and turned Macy down several times:

“Bill Macy asked me to marry him several times over several years. And I was finally smart enough to go: ‘I'm going to marry this guy or really lose him for good.' And it was after we broke up for four or five years when he asked me again, I knew I couldn't say no. It was the work I had to do in order to bring myself to the marriage and then the work that I did to be able to trust another person and see what comes out of that comfort and that safety. I was able to blossom out of that.”

Fortunately, Macy didn't give up — but Huffman admits that a successful marriage is hard work, even if they did get lucky:

"'It's also a normal marriage. We get frustrated just like everyone else. 'I don't think its easy anywhere. It's not for the faint of heart. We got lucky."

Though Huffman might consider it luck, there's no doubt the couple have proven themselves stronger when they are together. They celebrate one another's accomplishments, offer undying support, and are raising two teenage daughters together.

And highlighting their union, they offer the world a glimpse into the love that has kept them going for 20 successful years.

In February 2014, when Closer Weekly asked the couple about the secret to a happy marriage, the advice they gave wasn't something that could be utilized by other couples, but it certainly works for them. “Marry Bill!” was Huffman's response, with Macy adding, “Marry Felicity!”
