A Love Story

I can see it...even being just high school loves right now I can see it.

I'm in my late twenties...I'm walking down an icy street...the sidewalk is covered in snow and my feet are softly shuffling. I'm dressed in a suit.

Black suit...red scarf..Black briefcase..hair slicked back....a nice light facial hair grown in.

I'm walking down the street with a black briefcase in hand. I just got out of the meeting with rest of the board and I can't wait to go home.

I look down at my watch "10:00 p.m. November 3rd 2025"

I'm walking down the street and the only light around me is that of the light post.

It's quite relaxing. As I continue to walk down to my car, I realize that nothing can get better...I'm married..I have a son and daughter...I have a great job..a beautiful home...its all amazing..

I get to my car and sift through my pockets for the keys.

I unlock my car and look at it for a second.

Parked before me is a BMW i8...black all around...blue trim on the rims...spotless windows from last week's wash...I walk around the car and open the door. Inside there's a light brown leather interior...custom stereo built for the rich haha..

I step in the car and I put the keys in the ignition, I turn the keys to power on the car.

I sit back and relax as the car begins to warm and the windshield defrosts.

As I sit in the slowly toasting car I remember as a boy of just 18 and 19 I had a vision to be an amazing spokes person and writer. Here I am at 27...married...2 kids....nice house and an amazing job...

It's funny all those people who degraded me in the past..who talked down on me like I didn't know what I was supposed to do.

I slip back into reality and put my seat belt on, adjust the gear shift into drive and I pull away from the curb and head home.

On my way home the snow behind me starts to fly in the air as my tires kick it up. The road on the way home is covered in snow and the trees are bland and empty from the kiss of winter.

The buildings around me rise high above me, each holding its own purpose.

I come to an intersection and stop..I look around and I see a young man of about 16 riding his bike across the cross walk...time flies...thats all I can think about looking at these kids.

The light turns green and I continue home. Thirty minutes pass and I finally reach home. I'm home, after a long day I'm home and it feels great.

I pull into the two car driveway and next to my car is a nice little red jeep. I laugh at it every now and then...jeeps, lol.

I look on my passenger seat and see my briefcase. I grab it and head to the door.

My house isn't much, it's not a bill gates mansion...or a two story grand built house..no.

It's a one story house..three bedroom...a couple bathrooms...a nice living room.

The outside has a nice tree...the grass, when winter doesn't bite, is a nice green. The door is a gentle brown and the window next to it is small.

I look up and it's started to snow...I love the snow...its kinda like an anti depressant for me.

I reach the door and wipe my feet on the welcome home mat.

I put my keys in the door and walk in.

I look ahead and I set my briefcase down beside the door. Hang my jacket up, and before I know it

"DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD" A little boy's voice calls out.

"Yes?"

Next thing I know a small boy comes running around the corner yelling "Dad home, mommy dad's home"

A beautiful woman comes around the corner, and just like the day I first saw her, my heart beats and butterflies rush through me.

A smile breaks my face and I laugh as I rub my son's back.

"Yes daddy's home" (chuckles)

I look at my wife...my God...I remember the day we met...I remember our first kiss...our first hug...our wedding...I remember waiting in the hospital to see my kids...

I walk up to her and wrap my arms around her and smile.

I kiss her gently and smile.

Her voice rings delicately thriugh my ears "How was work sweetheart"

I smile and respond, "Work was work, nothing too interesting today, how was your day"

We walk into the living room and she starts to walk away

"My day went well. Not too much activity today just paper work and the kids," she giggles and walks to the kitchen.

I sit down in the black leather sofa and recline it so I stretch out.

Ahead of me a soft orange glow emits from a white brick fire place.

The smell of fire smoothly fills the house and gives a Christmas feel.

"Honey, did you get anything while you were out??"

I look back, "No I left work and came straight home. Didn't want to risk getting caught somewhere with the snow."

I lay back and look at the fire.

Fire has always calmed me since I was a young boy, nothing special really sticks out..but it's always calmed me.

My wife comes over to me and I look at her.

She sits beside me and curls up in my side..I wrap my arms around her and hold her close.

My heart beat slows, and she relaxes in my arms. I close my eyes and relax.

15 minutes passes by and I open my eyes. I look at her and she's sleeping. I gently adjust myself so I don't disturb her sleep and I gently lay her down flat.

I get up and walk to my daughter's room.

I slowly and quietly open the door and I look in. She's sound asleep.

I close the door and head to my son's room, I look in his room and he's asleep.

I walk back to the living room where my wife is quietly resting on the couch. I walk up to her and slide my arms under her and I pick her up in my arms.

I hold her close to my chest and begin walking to our room.

As I'm carefully walking and pacing myself my wife's eyes begin to open..I look down into her fluttering eyes...

Her brown eyes have always caught my attention..ever since I was younger they've caught my attention.

I walk through the door to our room and set her carefully on the bed.

She's already in her pajamas...hehe...

I pull the gray comforter over her and slide a pillow under her head.

I tuck her in and head to the shower.

I walk into the bathroom...

I'm lucky to have the family I do...it's not the biggest, or the most together, but I'm lucky to have it.

I strip down and step in the shower.

As the water runs down my back and the bathroom begins to steam I remember as a kid all the things I had gone through.

Despite all the things I went through between birth to 19 and 19 to now, I'm glad I did.

They all built me into who I am today. Gave me what I have today, and I couldn't be more grateful.

I wash my hair and body and I get out.

I look in the mirror...

Green eyes, sharp jawline, dark brown hair, a tattoo across my left peck with my sister's name, and a couple scars here and there.

I get my clothes and walk out of the bathroom.

My wife's still sleeping heavily. After today she needs rest.

I drop my clothes in the basket and set my alarm for 8 a.m.

I sit on the bed, and lay back. I look over and pull my wife in close...her hair falls in front of her face. I move her hair and kiss her forehead. I glance at the scar she has; pull the blanket over her.

No matter how hard life gets, no matter what paths it throws you down, you'll always get a prize for your strength.

Never give up and never give in.

Embrace the passion and spark within.

I close my eyes and fall asleep.
