There's someone out there for all of us.

Fast heartbeat. Sweaty palms. Shaky voice. Stuttering words. Shy look...

Falling in love is one of the most amazing feelings in the whole world. But how do you know when the person you're with is "the one"? The one is a partner who you want to be with for the long haul. You want them for the rest of your life. They're your soulmate. You can see yourself marrying them, having children with them, raising a family with them. We might all feel like someone is "the one" at some point before we actually find that person. Here are some tips as to why you might think that your partner, or future partner, is the one you want to spend the rest of your life with.

1) You know that they're always there.

Your partner should be there and support you no matter what you go through individually and together. They should love and support you like no one else can. They give you a feeling of love and comfort that is irreplaceable by anyone else. They give you confidence you need to boost you up and they make you feel safe. You know that they're just a phone call or text away when you need them or you just want to talk.

2) You feel different then you ever have before.

Your heart might skip a beat when you see them. Even hearing their voice gives you chills down your spine. Things that may have annoyed you in the past with other people, such as the way they grind their teeth at night or how they have to brush their teeth after every single time they eat, will not bother you anymore. You look past all of the things you didn't like or see in other people. You are very comfortable with them and talking to them comes easy. You always look forward to seeing or talking to them and you never get bored of them. You can easy resolve your issues and make up from a fight.

3) You have the same values.

They should believe in some of the same stuff that you do. Whether it's religious views, family values, honesty, manners, etc. You should be able to be yourself around them and never try too hard to fit in. Obviously you won't be 100% set on their way of life and values, but they should grow on you and expand your horizons and way of thinking.

4) You can talk about anything.

You should be able to talk about anything with your partner. It could be how work was, how much you hate your boss, how your sister is being terrible, or even just how much you really want McDonald's. Nothing should be off the table when it comes to talking to your partner. Having open and honest communication with your partner is key and it is necessary to make a relationship successful.

5) You love them more than anything in the world.

This isn't the same kind of love that you feel for your mother or father, pet, friends, etc. This is different. This is a kind of love that you feel safe and secure with. It doesn't matter what the two of you do together, you'll love it anyways. You love them in their PJs, with stinky breath, or even if they didn't shower for five days. You guys love all of each other's flaws and find them beautiful regardless.

Remember, flames burn out after a while. You will no longer feel the same spark that you did in the beginning. It won't always feel like the honeymoon phase. But it will turn into a new, different kind of love. A settle down kind of love. Comfortable. Safe. Secure.
