How to Make Someone Not Like You

As Told by a Girl

We've all been there. Someone is crushing on us and we really don't want them to. It just leads to feeling awkward and maybe even ruins a friendship. But how do you get someone to just stop liking you? Let's be honest, telling them you don't like them in that way usually doesn't work because they keep those feelings for you anyway. Being mean doesn't usually work either, especially if you want to maintain the friendship. So how do you get someone to stop liking you? Here are five simple steps.

Step One. Call them by the wrong name every time you address them.

Nothing can make a person more upset than someone they care about calling them by the wrong name, especially if it's close to their real name. If you want to make it even more effective, use a different wrong name every time you see them and make sure you say it loud enough that everyone can hear. When and if they try to correct you, continue to get it wrong anyway then apologize saying, "You're not too good with names or faces, but you’ll get it right next time.” Follow this statement by never getting it right.

Step Two. Flirt with literally everyone... except them.

Nothing can make a person lose feelings faster than realizing you have no interest in them without being verbal about it. What better way to do that than to flirt with everyone surrounding you, except the person you don't like? If there’s anyway to drop a hint that would be it. Also, be especially touchy-feely with your other close friends right in front of them. I guarantee that they'll lose feelings for you faster than a Republican backs the NRA after a school shooting.

Step Three. Be just enough of an a-hole that they don't want to spend as much time with you.

Feelings develop most typically when two people spend a lot of time together. So when you spend less time together because you're being a class A jerk, then they won't want to spend time with you. When they ask why you're being this way just tell them that they're "finally seeing the true you." Chances are, they won't like this version and will want to see less and less of you as time goes on.

Step Four. Shush and ignore them.

Nothing turns a person off more than being shushed and ignored. Why would you allow yourself to have feelings for someone that doesn't care about what you have to say? In addition, talk about something you know they like or are passionate about but never give them the opportunity to speak. When they do try to speak, shush them and tell them they are being rude by not letting you talk. If they do manage to slip a word in, tell them they're wrong. I can promise that they will head for the hills.

Step Five. Move to another country and block them on all your social media.

If all else fails, this idea is fool proof. Out of sight, out of mind as they say. Not to mention you won't have to deal with them anymore. If they're blocked, there's no pictures, no posts, no way to slide into your DMs. While you're at it, you'll also get to explore a new country and start your life fresh. So really it's all a win win. If this is not an option for you, just fart in their face. Pull the old Peter and Meg Griffin act and they'll never want to see you again. Make sure you laugh after doing this. It might not work the first time so be sure to store up a lot of farts. The worse they smell, the better.
