Introducing Myself

Hello everyone, I'm Flora, and I am delighted to finally meet all of you. I’m a French woman who majored in International Business Law. I completed my last year of study in Japan, where I found a job, and worked for two years in Tokyo. I live in London now, and I'm excited to share my experiences in the city with you.

I've been thinking about showing my stories (personal and fictional) for a long time now. But like most writers, I hesitated, and thought a great deal about what I wanted to talk about before jumping in.

Now that I’m writing those first words, I realize it was silly of me not to start right away, and that there’s actually nothing scary about opening myself to others. I hope you will enjoy my articles, as I intend to talk about all my passions, ambitions, dreams… and quirks.

I write to grow as a person, and will try to connect with you through my stories, and share everything I know with you. I also wanna read what you have to share to learn new skills, acquire more knowledge, and become more confident.

Over and above everything else, I love questioning myself, reflecting upon unsolved mysteries, and trying to see the world beyond my own perspective. That’s why I like to hear and read about other people’s experiences, learn from them, and see things in different lights.

I live in my mind most of the time, daydreaming during the day, which gives me time to wonder about a lot of things, and stage endless debates with myself. Family, friends, and books offer me a chance to confront my ideas, and create new prospects. Sometimes, my interrogations seem too far-fetched, and I can only take refuge in books to finds answers or different views.

I am also a hardcore fan of books, movies, and tv series. I like writing, reading, and working while listening to some dark ambient music (mainly Cryo Chamber). And finally, I'm a frequent traveler, so you can expect articles including photos and descriptions of places I visited.

Why I decided to start to write on Vocal?

Well, I have three goals in mind.

The first reason can be summed up in one expression: "The happiness is inside"

For a long time, I relied on others—or worse, on material things—to be happy. I also blamed people, or circumstances for my unhappiness. I realized not so long ago that I was the only person in charge of my happiness, and that I didn’t need to rely on others, material things, or events to be happy.

Happiness is inside of all of us from the beginning. Of course, we all had people in our life (family, friends, colleagues) behaving badly towards us, we all have injuries (betrayal, loneliness, lack of meaning). However, these things cannot dictate our lives and actions, and certainly cannot prevent us from finding happiness within.

With my articles, I want to explore this idea, and show everyone that all you need to achieve happiness is to find it within yourself, and show it to the world.

The second goal is to find my calling, my own personal dream.

Children have countless dreams: they want to become doctors, astronauts, pilots, architects, archeologists, journalists, etc., and people choose one dream when they grow up.

In my case—and I’m sure I’m not alone in this—choosing one clear professional path revealed to be very difficult. As a teenager, I didn’t know what to do at the end of high school, and I thought I made the right choice when opting for legal studies, with the long-term goal of becoming a lawyer. A few years into my Bachelor years showed me that I was sorely mistaken, and that a professional life revolving only around legal responsibilities wouldn’t make me happy.

I still wanted to finish my legal studies, and after having completed a Master in International Business Law, I found jobs as a legal advisor, and contract manager in law firms, and companies’ legal departments. I realized few years later that I was craving broader responsibilities, and was hired as a business and policy advisor in the public sector. This role allowed me to learn new skills and expand my experience, but it also proved to me that I could choose another path in my professional life.

The third reason is that I want to talk about my passions, interests... and strangeness.

I’ll post articles on my favorite series, movies and books, on a regular basis, along with personal stories, and experiences.
