Long Distance Love

And How to Deal with It

Considering online dating is big these days, I thought this post would be helpful.

One of the hardest things a person has to go through is a long distance relationship. I would know because I am in one. My fiance and I have been dating for four years now (engaged since Christmas 2017). In February 2018, he got called out to work three hours away from me. I was devastated knowing that he would be leaving and I could not go with him. Seeing him leave was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. It is not easy but here are a few things that I do to make this better.

Keep yourself busy.

I think this had to be the most important thing for me. If I was not doing anything, I would be down and would want to eat everything in the house. I was thankful to have a job and be in school because that occupied a lot of my time. So I think if you have a job, or are in school, try to spend the majority of your time doing that to keep your mind off of things.

Find a hobby.

When you have spare time, this would be something that would also keep you occupied. Creating a hobby helps out a lot. One thing I would do is read some books. I love reading so this was not a problem for me. I would find free books on iBooks and read them. (I might make another post on some free books that I enjoyed). Another thing I do is put on makeup. Makeup is a passion of mine, and I enjoy spending hours during the day trying out different looks.

Get a pet.

These are my two dogs. Coal (left) is two and a half years old & Diesel (Right) is one year old. They are both lab mixes.

I am so thankful for my little fur babies. Even though I am living alone and don't have human contact, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs Coal and Diesel. They also keep me busy. I love how they sense when I am feeling lonely and need comfort. I think getting any type of pet (if possible) is worth it. No matter if it is a dog, cat, fish, or hamster, you will never feel alone. And yes, I talk to my dogs all the time. And I know that they can't talk back. :)

Technology

We are so lucky that it is easy to communicate with one another. We can instantly talk to a long distance person without a problem. There is texting, calling, FaceTiming, and contact through social media. This definitely makes long distance easier.

Thanks for reading!

Just a little update: because I graduated, the dogs and I are staying with my fiance and we couldn't be happier to be back together as a family. I hope the few tips that I told you help. Thanks for reading, and good luck!
