(I wrote everything in third person and changed the names of everyone in the story).

“Will you marry me?”

“Oh My Gosh! Yes, I’ll marry you” *She lets the ring slip into her finger and kisses the man of her dreams.*

That was what Skylar was dreaming about for about the fourth night in a row. She couldn’t get her mind off of it at all. That’s all she has been thinking about ever since her boyfriend, now fiancé, Shane had proposed to her a couple of days ago, making it one of the best days in her entire life. She was able to now spend the rest of her life being with the man she loved since they started dating over four years ago.

Skylar and Shane had been together since they were 14, starting their first year in high school. They both had known each other since they were five, but after they graduated from elementary school, Shane had moved away to Virginia with his family and they hadn’t seen each other until their first day of school since Shane and his family had moved back to New York.

The moment they had seen each other, they couldn’t believe it, like they were little all over again. They first started out as friends, they both had crushed on different people at the time. Skylar had a crush on this guy named Derek Hernandez that her best friend Milly also had a crush on, but they never fought over him. Shane had a crush on this girl Chelsea Gomez who practically every guy had a crush on, including Derek, which at first hurt Skylar since she was really close with Chelsea and hated the fact that her crush was crushing on her friend.

But after a few months, Skylar and Shane started crushing on each other and soon Shane had asked her to go out on a date with him and of course she agreed. Then, after that, they had been together ever since, happily in love. Nothing was going to tear them apart, nothing and no one. They might have gone through rough patches a few times, but they always stood strong and never let anything get to them in any way that could tear them apart, like a rumor that Derek had a crush on Skylar and wanted to go out with her, but he had denied it and told her that he didn’t like her. At that point, she didn’t really care since she was with Shane and wasn’t going to dump him over an old crush that she had who wasn’t even worth it to her anymore.

That was over four years ago, and now they were both in college. Skylar was still 18 turning 19 in July, and Shane was 19 because of his birthday in March, and they were going to get married and live the rest of their lives together. They both were working: Shane was working at a summer camp and Skylar was interning at the Visiting Nurse Service of NY, and they were trying to save as much as they could so that way they had money to do whatever they wanted for a while now. That way they could use the money for their honeymoon, and then the rest would go for the apartment that they were wanting to get, but they were still away from that yet; first was actually now planning this wedding that they were going to have in a matter on months. Skylar had already told everyone about the engagement, and she couldn’t wait until she started planning.

The engagement was beautiful, they were having dinner at this expensive restaurant called Sugiyama, which was a Japanese restaurant, and the cheapest meal was about $45, and it just got even higher, went up to even over $100. Then after dinner, they went off into Central Park and took one of the carriages out to tour the beautiful park, her cuddling into him. For Skylar, it was the best date that they had ever been on and the most romantic. Truth be told, Shane wasn’t always the typical romance guy that every girl dreams of. He was simple and, like all the simple things, that can be fun, too. But this time, Shane wasn’t being simple at all, he was being the most romantic guy ever, and Skylar was loving every moment of it. Then Shane asked the rider if he could let them off by the park fair, giving him extra money, and he agreed. Once they got off there, Shane took Skylar’s hand and guided her to the fair. As they were walking on the bridge, they saw that the fair was empty.

“Aww, the fair is closed,” Skylar pouted. “I wanted to go and get on all the rides.”

Shane laughed, “Don’t worry baby, you can go another time.” He patted his hand on her back and then looked at his phone.

Then all of a sudden, the lights at the fair started going off. The way the lights were made everything look so beautiful. It amazed Skylar how the lights were blinking so beautifully, and when the lights came to a complete stop, it said "Will you marry me?" all nice and beautiful.

It touched Skylar, thinking how cute it was for some guy to do that for his girlfriend. “Aww, Shane, look, someone did something really sweet for their girl—.” She stopped, looking at Shane, who was down on one knee, holding a little box in his hands.

“Sky,” he started, taking her hand. “You are the most beautiful person in this whole world and you are not just beautiful, there is so much more to you than that.” He smiled wide at her, as she was in shock. “You have made me want to become something good in my life. You bring me so much happiness, making me the happiest that I have ever been. You are my best friend, my lover, my one and only true love. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and I know that I will always love and protect you through our years to come. This is just the beginning of the rest of our lives and we can get through it together. So,” he took her hand in his, “will you marry me?”

Skylar was in complete tears. She couldn’t believe what was happening; it was all too fast for her, but she was in love with him so it didn’t take her long to come up with an answer. “Oh my gosh! Yes, I will marry you!”

Shane smiled, slipping the ring onto her finger and got up and kissed her passionately, having everyone around cheering them on.

After the kiss, Skylar looked at Shane, realizing how lucky she was to have an amazing guy like him, and she knew that, from that day forward, it was going to be forever.
