The New Guy in Town

Not the exact car. The horns are pretty spot on.

#MyWorstDate

I had an outside sales position. One of the reps came in town from Canon. We made our sales calls introducing the new products. Then we stopped at the River Walk for lunch at Dick's Last Resort. Sitting across the restaurant was a really attractive guy. Blonde hair, blue eyes, and nicely dressed. We kept exchanging glances. Well it was time to leave. He hadn't approached me. I got up to proceed to walk out and he stopped me. Basic hi introductions. He was from Kansas traveling through Texas. He asked for my phone number. Asked if I'd like to grab a friend for his friend and have dinner. Gave him my phone number and told him to give me a call.

I talked to one of my friends. We agreed to meet them. So this guy is really persistent about picking us up. Nope. We will meet you. They pull up in this old, beat up, turquoise, convertible Oldsmobile. Do you have that visual? Now add big longhorns that stretch from one side of the bumper to the other. No way were we going to let them drive us anywhere. They followed us to the restaurant. Dinner was nice. They seemed like nice guys. We then decide to go out and hit some of the bars downtown. Again, we are driving and they are following.

Well my friend's car won't start. We tried everything. After a few drinks we decided we would ride with them. We were having a blast. Dancing, singing, drinking, and laughing. Then my date starts getting too aggressive with me. My friend and his friend are trying to restrain him. I throw my drink in his face to get him out of my face. A lady at the bar throws her drink in his lap. A guy at the bar pours his beer all over his head. Fight starts. My friend, his friend, and I get out of the bar. We can't get him. He's in there fighting. So we are outside in the beat up, turquoise, convertible Oldsmobile with the huge longhorns across the entire bumper waiting for him.

The police arrive. He runs out. Jumps in the car. We take off. He is drenched with a combination of mixed drinks and beer. His friend is driving. My friend and I are in the front seat. Can't wait to get back to her car. They towed her car!!

So now we are stuck with this jerk for a little while. His friend is driving us home. The jerk crashing after all of his yelling and cussing us out. The car starts to rumble. The car starts to steam! Nothing is in site! The car stops. So here we are on the side of the road. No cell phones. The convertible, turns out that they cut the roof off. There is no top! It starts to rain. It starts pouring. We are all drenched. No place to get out of the rain. Finally a police officer stops by. The look on his face was priceless. He couldn't keep a straight face. Busted out laughing. I asked him if he could call us a cab. He let us wait in the car while he checked out the guys. Legit. No violations. He called them a cab and took us to our house. That was my worst date. It's funny now, but it sure wasn't at the time.
