Orbit

A Solstice Letter to an Old Flame

We live in a time of change, of huge shifting—in thoughts, in beliefs, of consciousness. We see these shifts in the fearfulness and outrage throughout society. There are those who see this on a global scale, and the rest who are still tunnel visioned into their own fear.

The people we will invite into our own personal orbits and universe will be the ones we allow to shift us, and who we are supposed to shift. Now more then ever honesty with others and more importantly, with ourselves, is important. Good and board, it all serves a higher purpose.

A few months ago I noted that you and I had shifted, again. As always, through dreams. Each of us shedding our own old hurts and focusing in on our own needs to grow. I have shed pain and attachment in this past year for what could have been, and in shedding that the year of darkness is starting to see light again. You too, are finding a new path in your own way.

In dreams we live one life, in reality we live another. Who is to say which timeline is most relevant?

I am free.

What do I do with this freedom?

There is wild within me, as well as without me.

(Shed the fear of freedom, my intuition says).

Oh, but I haven’t felt free like this in so long. It’s new, it’s uncomfortable, it’s raw.

(Welcome the power that comes with the freedom, allow more to surface and be cleared).

We cannot force ourselves into other’s stories, we can only appreciate plot development we have in our own. Being the hero of your own story doesn’t mean you get to be the hero in someone else’s. That’s a message for myself. The impact you’ve had on my life is large, but it doesn’t imply it has to be an ongoing impact. My own healing needs priority, and I’ve been dishonest with myself on how I've been going about that. Avoiding the pain and discomfort that came along was a turning point. I’ve needed to learn this lesson over, and over again with you.

I dreamt years ago your soul told mine that our love was always going to be relevant. In the same conversation you said you had to go and do some work, and that you were going to be busy for a while. My soul said the same sentiment, we hugged, and parted ways. I woke from that dream feeling as though all had been resolved, we were both going to be okay, and it was a natural step for us to be apart for a while.

The years that followed brought us constantly coming back into orbit for one another only to be reminded that we both had other things to be doing. The universe constantly gravitating us to and from, on our own journeys. It’s been such a comfort to know you and I orbit the same planets, if only crossing paths for long enough to check in. However, comfort isn’t always a growth point.

I dreamt recently again of our souls, our consciousness’, speaking to one another. You told mine you were going through some changes. I’ve had a recurring dream of looking in the mirror and seeing you as a reflection. I am grateful for the reminder that as you are, so am I.

The ability to be honest with ourselves is direct to how we are able to be honest with others. This requires vulnerability with myself. Vulnerability means you can be left behind, forgotten, experience the universal human fears face forward. Without this—how can you trust yourself? How can you find your purpose? Honesty is the catalyst for growth, with others—but with ourselves first and foremost.

Be kind to yourself in this time of shifting. Take comfort in all darkness as darkness precedes light. You symbolize the darkness I need to shed—we reflect that in each other. In writing these letters I am allowing myself to let go to move forward into the next chapter.

Love always, x.
