Reason First: The Idea of the First Date in the Digital Age
The current state of dating largely surrounds online connections. The proper way for men to comport themselves on meeting a woman face-to-face is of chief importance.
What separates men from males in romantic relationships is the fact that there must be a level of spine and testicular fortitude to match the woman’s femininity. In order to achieve this balance, it is important to communicate with honesty, primarily. A relationship is built on the pillars of virtue that among these are honesty and integrity. Ayn Rand once said that a man must be rational and consistent not only in his work, but in all aspects of life as well.
Set for a table for two.
To be upfront with a lady is the crux of any romantic relationship. This leads to the dating scene. It is sagacious to present oneself as a man of unimpeachable veracity. This means to be truthful in every way. This means that you never back down from your position, even if you disagree with the female. It is imperative that you shrug off notions of what you should show and be actually who you are.
Be brash without being overbearing. Be a swashbuckler in speech while not overstepping your boundaries. Indicate your intellect and retain your manliness at all times. Your role as a gentleman will exude in your speech and actions. If the date is your idea, pay for both meals. If she suggests it, let her pick up the tab. Use wisdom to navigate through awkward pauses or disagreements. Smooth over the rough patches with plenty of “thank yous” and “you’re welcomes.” Don’t make a buffoon of yourself to appease or attempt to impress her. Your rationality will guide your chances of not making a date a comedy show. A joke here or there will permit her to realize that you have a light side. But always remember the dark side.
Don't let the sun go down on them....
Be curt and congenial at the same time by sharing a harsh story about yourself. Now, don’t scare the girl! Just let her know that you possess a duality of qualities and are a complete human being. This does not mean the fallacy that you must have flaws. These are nonessentials and if you can, you should eliminate any moral shortcomings from your character. Never look forward to having sex on the first night or on the day of the first date. It is proper to gauge when a woman is ready.
The 'clink' is what it's all about....
Companionship and conversation remain linchpins in the beginning of any romance. The exchange of ideas ought to propel you to consider just talking to a woman to put her mind at ease and frustrate her at the same time. Just don’t rush anything. Speeches on art, science, and business might encourage both parties to listen more and seek to understand one another. To let a lady speak for herself is key to any healthy relationship. Even if you never see one another again, or if you see her and never ask her out again, she will appreciate the gesture. But if the relationship builds, than a lasting union can be struck.
The Meeting of Two Minds
Women want men who employ their own capacity to think and act on reason. Somewhat of a vestige in which exists in today’s “swipe right” world, the nature of two souls linking together is beautiful. With all of the advancements in technology, you must remain thoughtful and use those bits of technological achievement in your favor. The messages, tweets, snaps, and even email and other ways to express oneself on the Internet ought to serve you on your quest for love.
When Sparks Fly
But before you can even reach this stage, I must stress that today’s woman is intelligent, independent, and sophisticated. She doesn’t need a louse to drag down her success. That is why it is extremely important to have unbreakable confidence that will entice or excite her into being with you or not. Free will allows you to decide both short range and long range plans and ideas. Let those choices be the right ones.
