What is self love?

We often live busy lives working, maintaining relationships, a household etc, but have you ever just stopped and given a minute to yourself. Reflected on what is going on around you and in your life.

Self-love is simply loving oneself, or ones regard for their happiness.

It is important for us all to have some awareness of self-love. You may not know this but it is very good for your mental well-being.

Learning to love your self can be hard but I will be giving you simple and easy tips on how to do this in a fun and creative way.

Focus on yourself.

Now I know some people may think, God if I do this I will be selfish. No! Absolutely not. Sometimes that's exactly what you need.

The ways you can do this is trying to find something that you've always wanted to do in your spare time. Something that you've just simply not had the time to do.

It could be as simple as reading a book, to taking up a new hobby.

By doing this it gives you that bit of happiness, and makes you feel like you have accomplished something for yourself. It may sound silly but theres no harm in trying.

Take care of your body.

Now have you heard the term you body is like a temple. Yes? No? Well this is something sacred and you should look after it.

This could be through exercise, eating the right foods, and even pampering yourselves. Now lads this one goes for you too. Everyone loves a bit of TLC!

Book your self a spa day or even if you do it from the comfort of your home. It can make a big difference.

When you look good you feel good.

Thank yourself and be kind to yourself.

We are all guilty of having that inner voice inside of us that always likes to taunt us and put us down. Remember the inner voice you are hearing is a reflection of your own thought of your self worth. It is not true.

We are our own worst enemies in life and until we don't learn to be kind to ourselves then it will be difficult for us to change our mindset.

So thank yourself. I know that sounds silly, but thanking yourself for the accomplishments that you have achieved show that you are proud of yourself, and your achievements.

Try writing down one or two good things about yourself as a way of you trying to be more compassionate and kind to yourself .

Even simply writing all the things you are proud of in your life so far is a way of you expressing kindness.

Drop toxic people.

The people you are around often have a big impact on the way you behave and the way you think.

If your around people that are constantly negative and bring you down, then you need to think are these people I really want to be around?

Try spending a week apart from them and see how it makes you feel. If you realize that you are happier without these people in your life. Then it is time to say adios amigo.

I know it is a scary thing to be alone but remember it is only temporarily. You will find better people in your life that will help make you a better person.

Don't make negative comparisons.

Men and women are all guilty of doing this at some point in their lives, and its hard not to when you have all these people on social media who are flaunting how good their lives must be. However, never compare yourself to anyone. You are unique and special in your own way.

Remember social media is an illusion that we show the world. What you see is not always true.

It's a scary world out there and people can be cruel but remember stay true to yourself and learn to love yourself. You will have your good days and bad days, however even if you did one of the 5 things that I mentioned above it could make a difference.

The change comes from you no one else. There's no harm in trying.
