A Short Film to Start Dire Conversations Around Bullying

Everyone has been bullied sometime in their lives. It could be physical, verbal, or cyberbullying. In order for us to evolve as a species and find peace within ourselves and the world, we must find what creates the need to bully in the first place. So many factors go into the harassment and antagonistic behaviors that potentially can take place between two human beings. Whether your home life is rocky, your self-confidence is low, your self-esteem is non-existent, or whatever may plague one's mind. Sadly, we haven't done anything about this issue and we've turned our heads from the problems that corrode us. We have created a society of bystanders, and we must take a stand against bullying. This film is that stand.

Sticks and Stones is a short film that focuses on the effects of bullying and what it has on our youth. The film is centralized around Eve and her struggles with being bullied and her self-image, ultimately leading to Eve being pushed to her extremes.

I started writing this film on November 15th, 2016 and finished it in January of this year (2019). The script itself is about 10-11 pages, so the film will be 10-11 minutes long. Casting and pre-production have already started and the film will be shot late March going into April.

My team stands with art. Art is the best form of expression for self-expression, protest, and to get a message across the masses. With Sticks and Stones, we hope to create an art movement within the San Fransisco bay area that encourages people to share their perspectives and stories with each other to create conversations on the issues that are with us each and every day. Those projects and creations could include films, music, paintings, sketches, or any form of art they hold dear to themselves. With each post, the creator would link their work to the movement with the hashtag #sticksandstones. From there, we wish to use the publicity to create a space where we can educate and uplift the people in our communities in order to fully tackle the issues of bullying, self-image, and mental health. To be able to do this, we need your help to fuel it.

Currently, the best way to help jump-start this movement is to donate to and share our go fund me page. Any amount of donations assists us to get this piece made. To thank our donators, we have exclusive content we have set in place. Thank you for taking the time to read about our project. Below is the GoFundMe link as well as some test footage we shot back in November 2018.
