Sweet Dreams

Today is the day. I am going to ask out my crush to prom, AKA the most popular guy in the school, Jake! I am so nervous. What if he says no? What if he already has a date to prom? Wait, stop! there are so many “what ifs,” I need to stop thinking about those and focus on the positive.
It takes an hour to get ready for school and I still don’t feel pretty enough, he would never say yes to a girl like me. No, stop, I have to think positive! I put on my black converse and walk to school. I only live a few blocks away. As I’m walking there, I think of all the possibilities that could happen.
I feel a tap on my shoulder and I jump out of my daydream. I turn around... wait! It's Jake!! I wonder what he wants. Wait, this is my chance!
“Hi”
“Hi”
We say hi at the same time. “Hey Jordan, I have something I, uh, wanted to talk to you about...”
“Wh- what’s up?” I stutter.
“Well I was, uh, wondering if you would be my date to prom.”
“YES!” I scream as I wake up holding my favorite teddy bear that I have had since I was four. “Oh no no no, it was just a dream! Of course that couldn’t have been real. A guy like Jake would never ask a girl like me out.”
I’m literally crying right now…mom can’t see me like this. I run into the bathroom and wash my face. The feeling of the cold water dripping off my face soothes me and makes me feel a bit better.
Once I calm down, I walk downstairs to get breakfast. “Jordan, what took you so long, it's nearly time for you to go to school,” my mom says.
“Sorry mom, I had trouble waking up this morning.”
Which isn’t entirely a lie. “Well come get some breakfast quick, you know breakfast is the most important meal of the day!” mom says with a smirk on her face.
Just as she says that, I notice the sizzling of bacon, and the sweet smell of bacon filling my nose. The table is set so I walk over and take a seat. When the food is done, I devour it quickly. I don’t have much time. But man it was good!
Quickly I grab my backpack and run out the door.
*buzz*
I feel my phone go off in my pocket. It's my best friend Chelsey. “Hey girl, this is the big day huh!?”
“I totally forgot about that!! I literally look like a pig! I forgot to get myself ready. I had a really weird dream last night...”
“Ooh what about??”
“I’ll tell you later dude.”
I feel a tap on my shoulder and almost drop my phone. I turn around… Wait its Jake!! I wonder what he wants. Wait, this is my chance. “Hi.”
“Hi.”
We say hi at the same time. “Hey Holly, I have something I uh wanted to talk to you about...”
“What’s up?”
“Well I was, uh, wondering if you would be my date to prom,” Jake says with a twinkle in his eye.
“YES!”
