The Best Date Ever

A Personal Experience

The article you are about to read is more personal than anything else I have ever had published, but I feel like I need to at least write it out. Is there such a thing as a decent date? Well, I just had one, but this was more than just a good date. It was probably one of the best dates I have ever had. I will not use his name in this article because he might not want me to, but instead, we will call him Jim.

Jim lives in the USA while I live in Ontario, but it is no big deal since we are only an hour apart, or so we thought. Luckily for him, he has a passport to travel freely between the two countries, but for myself, I am still working on getting my passport, but this article isn't about the distance, but rather the first date.

It started like any other date would. We smiled and introduced ourselves before deciding on who gets to drive. I volunteered to drive because Jim had not been to Ontario in a very long time, so we got into my car and headed off for dinner. I decided to ask him where he would like to eat. He replied with, "whatever you feel like." Remembering our conversations on the phone I remembered he liked Chinese food, so I brought him to our Chinese restaurant that is well-known for their buffets. We ate in silence, staring and smiling at one another from across the table. He was tall, dark, and very handsome. I couldn't help but stare. Still trying to figure him out I just continued to stare until he asked, "What?" I laughed and reassured him that it was nothing. That I was just trying to figure him out. We talked about nothing important over dinner, but instead just enjoyed our time together. After finishing up we decided that it was still too early to go for drinks, so we headed down to the casino instead. Personally, I don't do the casino because I always seem to lose, but Jim really wanted to try our casino out, so I decide to amuse him.

It wasn't the first time Jim had been to a casino, but it was the first time he had been to the Ontario one. He seemed to know almost every machine, and how they worked. He was so cute I couldn't help myself from staring. We sat at every machine together in hopes of winning. Luckily for me, I actually won for once in my life. I ended up walking away that day with $60 in my pocket. It looked as though Jim might be a good luck charm when it comes to gambling. Unfortunately for Jim, he lost whatever he decided to risk that day, and walked away with nothing, but even with losing he seemed like he enjoying himself, or at least that is what he told me. After leaving the casino we headed off to our local park.

I knew he was into gardening and nature, and luckily for us, the town I grew up in has a massive community garden at our main park. As we walked along the water and beautiful flowers that covered the park he took me by the hand. It should be noted here that I have never held another man's hand in a public area. Not because I am ashamed of who I am, or afraid of what might happen, but because no guy I have ever dated, or been on a date with, has ever had the courage to hold my hand. We continued to walk slowly around the park holding hands and talking about our interests and such until he then slowly took me aside and began to kiss me gently. It was one of the best kisses I have ever had. It was passionate and slow. I have always believed that you will know if they are the right one if there are fireworks involved in the kiss. After walking for a good hour or two it was finally late enough to go for that drink.

We entered the bar together and got our drinks before taking our seats. As we sipped our drinks, we decided it would be a good idea to play a game of pool. Me being me, decided to put sexual wagers on the game. I ended up losing that round of pool, but he pretended I won, so I could claim the prize, and no I'm not going to tell you what the prize was, but I can say it was definitely in my favor. However, because Jim lives out-of-town we decided the best option for him would be to spend the night. I know it's weird to spend the night on a first date, but because of the distance, and the fact we were enjoying one another company I decided to bring him home with me.

Now that I live with roommates bringing a man home to spend the night feels a little awkward, but luckily for me, I moved in with my best friend and her son. She seems fine with the situation, but her son probably finds it a little odd, but whatever. We all pay our part of the bills, so there isn't much he can say or do. As the night drew to a close, we headed off to bed. Of course, there was more than just sleeping happening that night, but that's for me to know, and not for you. I slept decently, but poor Jim tossed and turned all night because of the heat. We woke up bright and early as Jim needed to head home to bring his dog to the vet. We kissed and said our farewells.

Not knowing when will get to see each other next we continue to keep in touch. Every day after his shift, Jim makes a point to call me, and I literally mean call me. The last guy I dated wouldn't even text me let alone call me on the phone, but Jim is old school when it comes to dating. I try to keep up with texting him because I know when I wake up he is usually already at work, so I don't want to bother him with a phone call, so I leave cute little messages that he can read when he finds the time. For now, we will continue to keep in touch until the next time we can see each other.
