The Fire Sparked: Part 1

And the light still flickers...

Five years later and I never thought I would be where I am or with whom I am. It all started back in November 2012; one night I was out with friends and I met Him. Now, just like every relationship it is never a fairy tale. Even if it was like a Disney love story there is still always sadness. Now, as we all know, the start of a relationship is always so fun and exciting. The adventure we all look for and with all of the dreams to come with it. But does it ever truly happen?

The night when he and I first met, I was invited to a fire in the woods. I didn't know anyone except a friend and her brother. The rest of the people there were her brothers friends; one of them was Him. When I met Him, I didn't even want to be with Him or even a friend of his. It wasn't like it was my goal to end up with Him, at all. Now, don't get me wrong, he was and still is very handsome, charming, with an adorable smile, greenish blue eyes you can look into and get lost for days, and dark chocolate hair. But at that point that was the only thing I knew about Him. His looks. Actually, I was trying to get Him to date my friend. But clearly that didn't work out very well.

As the night started, the fire was roaring and the guys kept making it bigger and bigger. The flames seemed as tall the trees and the starry night sky, with a moon so big it made the perfect set for a romanic evening. Not for me, of course; I was just happy being single and enjoying my own company, but the universe had a bigger plan for me. As the night went on we were all drinking, laughing, and having an amazing time. I could see that my friend and Him weren't clicking the way she wished for it. Every time I looked up he was glancing over at me! Which was not how it was suppose to be, but you can't control your feelings, right?

The fire needed more wood, from what the guy's were saying, so He decided to chop down a tree. Now, right then I was not happy; instead of looking for a dead tree to chop, NOOO, he wanted to act all tough and cool and kill a live tree! He started to hit the tree left then right, repeating over and over. I told him go find another tree, one that was already dead, but instead of listening he kept trying to cut down this tree. Then, all of a sudden, he slipped and twisted his ankle. I started laughing at him, it was the type of laugh that one gets and they just can't stop laughing to the point everyone else is now silent and just staring at you. But I didn't care, because it was karma for how he was acting.

The night carried on and on but it was a really great night, lots of laughs and lots of embarrassing moments between all of us. But it was time for the night to come to an end and for us all to go home. It was pitch black out with the only light coming for the moon. I was ahead of everyone else until he ran up to me and said, "Did you have a good night?" I looked over at him. " Yeah, I did. It was better than watching a movie and going to bed." I said. Then we walked and talked for the rest of the trail back to our cars. All I could think was even though this guy had his jerk moments, he actually seems pretty decent. I wished that I got to talk to him more and wasn't trying to get my friend to hook up with him.

The rest of the night I laid in bed and I couldn't get him off of my mind. I didn't know if I would ever see him again, but I wanted to. So, the next day I decided to make a move and start my next possible adventure. I went to social media and I made my move. I found his profile and I messaged him.

Me: Hey, I just wanted to see how your ankle is after twisting it. I hope you're OK and didn't get hurt to much. I had a great time and it was nice meeting you. Well, see you around.

Him: Want to go out for coffee sometime??
