The Story of a Stupid Girl (Part Two)

A True Story

"What would you like to watch?" Brody asks me. "Uhhh...." I think aloud. We're both sitting Indian-style on his bed in his small, two bedroom house. He hands me the Xbox remote, and I start scrolling through Netflix. "Well," I say as I slowly scroll. "I like horror movies." Which is true, and I thought it would be a perfect almost-new-boyfriend ice breaker. This way, if I got scared, his instinct would be to hold me. If he got scared, my instinct would be to laugh and say "BYEE!!!" Just kidding!

"Oh! I actually just saw this really good horror movie just a few weeks ago! It's called The Circle, and it's about these people that get abducted by aliens and they have to decide on who dies or else it will pick randomly." Me, being the person that actually hates alien movies (since they're always so fake and I would rather have a threat than suspense), did not really want to watch it, but he loved it. I said, "Sure! Sounds pretty cool." So we sat and eventually ended up cuddling. As I had thought, the movie was not all that good, and he had pretty much given the entire story away with what little he told me. After the movie, I say, "Well thank you for having me. I really enjoyed it! Text me later?"

"Sure thing!" Brody replies. "Call me when you get home so I know you got home safely!"

So, I climb in my car and start to pull out of his driveway when he tries to flag me down. I stop and roll my window down, and immediately, he kisses me. I was blushing the entire time, and then he asks, " Soooo.... Will you be my girlfriend?" By this point, I was not only excited, but I am sure my whole face was RED. I pause for a moment so I do not seem too excited, and then reply with, "Yeah. I would love to!" So we kiss again, and I drive off smiling like a bloody idiot.

The next morning, I awake with a text from him. "You up? I have a little surprise for you!" he wrote. I start to squeal with a happiness that lasted all day. I head to work (a daycare, which is kind of irrelevant but whatever), and it was just a great day. The kids were amazing, and no one seemed to be in a bad mood. It was 6pm and the last baby had just left, and I scurry to clean the room. He had texted me saying that I would get it after work, and I was SO EXCITED. I clock out, grab the bag of trash I had to take to the dumpster, and head out the door. I stop dead in my tracks. Brody is standing in front of my car with a bouquet of roses. I quickly run the bag to the trash and run to attack him with a huge bear hug. He laughs and hands me the flowers.

"Thank you so much!" I squeal. He kisses me on the forehead and says, "Yeah, I've been here since 3pm. I couldn't remember what time you said you got off work!"

"I can't believe you waited that long! I've been curious all day as to what the surprise was!"

"Well, there's more where that came from!" Brody says and pulls me into a hug. This was the first moment I had felt true love. I had always wanted someone to surprise me when I was least expecting it, and it had happened. It was really like something out of a story book, and I could not wait for what all this new life had planned for us.
