#myworstdate

My worst was about two and a half years ago. I decided to sign up for Tinder and see what happened. Well, I got a lot of messages asking for hookups and very few guys who could actually hold a conversation. There was this one guy, cute as they come—we had what seemed like a great connection and he seemed like a lot of fun. He was that nerdy kind of cute that doesn't come around too often. We talked for a couple months before I felt comfortable enough to meet him in person.

The day was finally here. I was going to meet a really cute guy. It was only a coffee date, but I was so nervous. I got dolled up and felt pretty confident. Sadly I didn't have a car, so my dad drove me to the Tim Horton's we were meeting at. I saw him. I saw him walking towards me. It was like my life flashed before my eyes. All the nerves just settled in and I started blushing.

He greeted me at the door and held it open for me. Finally, I thought, a gentleman. He bought me a coffee and we sat down. Five minutes after I sat down, I wanted to leave. He didn't put any effort in to make conversation. I had to ask all the questions and he didn't seem interested at all. He went to the bathroom all of the sudden. I was actually quite relieved while he was gone. I was texting my best friend, asking her what I should do.

"LEAVE NOW, HE'S PROBABLY A PSYCHOPATH" is what she said.

15 minutes had passed. All I kept thinking was what the hell is he doing in there?? He finally came back and said he had to let his dog out and told me I could come if I wanted. I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and go with him. I was really excited to meet the dog. I grew up having many of them. We got to his apartment and he barely talked to me while we walked his dog. Then he decided that we should hang out in his apartment for a while. I started feeling uncomfortable. We sat on his couch and he turned on his TV. I thought we would watch a movie or something, but no. That would make too much sense, right? He went onto youtube and started watching video game tutorials!!!! They were tutorials about different characters and how to do certain things. I was ready to scream. Who in their right mind thinks that this is a date???? I was miserable and told him I was leaving. I told him I had to get home to help my mom with something, but really I wanted to bitch to my mom about how awful this guy was at dating!

The best part about all of this was his text the next day saying he had a great time and wanted to do it again sometime. I learned that online dating is the worst way to date for me. It was too awkward and was quite forced. I would much rather meet someone in person and I am definitely raising my standards now. That was #myworstdate ever.
