To the Man Who Holds My Heart

I am so lucky to have found you. I am so thankful that my 8th grade crush turned into something so real. You have shown me a love I never thought I deserved. You continue to show me this love every day that we are together. You never stop trying to "win me" even though you already have me. I am so grateful for you and I promise to love you endlessly.

We met in middle school and I never thought that crush would turn into something so real. You knew I had a crush on you but you were in a relationship. It just simply wasn't our time. It took you getting your heart broken and me being in a toxic relationship to realize that we were meant for one another.

When I first started talking to you I knew there was something special about you. Sadly, I didn't realize it at the time. I was so hung up on someone that was so terrible for me but you never gave up. You loved me on my worst days and you loved me on my best days. Even the days that I was so mean and hurtful, you still loved me. You still showed me that you weren't going to give up. You made a promise to me. You told me that you weren't going to give up until you had me and you kept that promise. It took you a couple weeks, but you kept it.

Since that first day we started talking you have treated me the way I deserve to be treated. Honestly, you treat me probably better than I deserve. You have never let me down. You have never purposely tried to hurt me. You have always been honest with me and you have never tried to hide anything from me and that is so special to me. You have always done your best to put in the right amount of effort into our relationship. Have you hurt me before? Yes. You will get hurt in every relationship you are in. What matters is how they hurt you and if they purposely did it. What else matters? If they apologize and prove to you that they truly are sorry and never do it again. You've only hurt me a couple times but you never tried to do it. It was something that just accidentally happened. You apologized and never did the same thing again to hurt me.

When it comes to loving me, you do such an amazing job. You never let me down. You tell me you love me everyday and I know you mean it. I don't have to ask you to tell me that you love me. You do it on your own. At random times of the day. All day long. You have never once made me feel unloved. Even when we have been in a fight, I know you still love me. Something that is so important to me is forgiveness and telling someone you love them after a fight. We don't fight that much but when we do you are very mature about it. You see things from my perspective as well. You are never one sided. You always try and take into account how I am feeling and respond based on that. You have never responded to me out of just plain anger. You have always told me that you love me after we have had a fight and you have always forgiven me no matter the circumstance. You have never been disrespectful towards me and I thank your mother for that. Your mother has done an amazing job at teaching you what respect is. She has raised you to be a wonderful man who I am so in love with.

You have always been so respectful towards my family and friends as I have yours. You have never said anything rude or disrespectful. You joke around with my family sometimes but it is never something that could be taken the wrong way. You love my family as if they were your own and my family loves you just the same. Your family welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home when I met them. I am so blessed to be a part of your family and I wouldn't change anything about them.

When it comes to loving you, you make it so easy. You do goofy things that sometimes are dumb but they are things that make me love you. You are always cracking jokes even when the time isn't appropriate. Whenever I am upset you always make me feel better. Sometimes by calling me silly names, tickling me, and even just talking to me about what's upsetting me. I have never loved someone the way I love you. I couldn't imagine loving you more than I do right now but I'm sure I will say that so many times throughout my life. You are such a loving and genuine man. You are so sweet and caring. Whenever someone around you is upset you are always there for them. You always listen to them and their problems and try and find ways to help. You always listen to me no matter what I am rambling on about. Even if you don't care what I'm talking about you still listen. Now do you always remember what I said? Absolutely not. But no one remembers every single thing someone said.

You are my best friend and my hero. I could never imagine life without you in it. You love me in ways no one else could. I appreciate you for everything that you do. Thank you for loving me when I am at my worst. Thank you for taking care of me when I need it. Thank you for putting up with me when I am unbearable. You make my life better. I couldn't ask for a better partner to tackle life's challenges with. I love you for all that you are and all that you will become. I will stick by your side through the good and the bad. I will love you endlessly.
