Walks the beginning path

Who? Vannie and Elo

What? Friends who become lovers

Where? Colorado Springs

When? Present Time

Why? Friends to Lovers = Forever

She was just your typical college girl, walking from the library on a warm Friday night. Little did she know, she would run into the “new” boy next door...

(Vannie runs into Elo, spilling her tea all over him.)

Vannie: Oh gosh, I’m sorry. I didn’t see where I was going.

Elo: It’s alright. Whatever your thinking about must be good.

Vannie: (chuckles) No, I’m just a total idiot for not paying attention.

Elo: It's fine, I can take care of it. I’m sorry about your tea, definitely smells delicious.

Vannie: (laughs) Pumpkin Spice. It’s fall or whatever. Basic drink for a basic girl.

Elo: You seem far from basic. Always liked brains in a girl. I’m sorry, I didn’t get your name. I’m Elo, I live down the block.

Vannie: Vannie. Nice to met you. Um, actually, I live that way, too.

Elo: Mind if I walk with you?

Vannie: No.

(As they walked, conversations continued. Chemistry started.)

Elo: So who’s Vannie when she’s not in the books?

(Blushes and blushes, holding her books closer to her chest.)

Vannie: Would you like to know the nerdy side, or the geek side?

Elo: Is it possible to know both? 'Cause I can’t help but find you extremely intriguing.

Vannie: I am a writer and I like playing video games.

Elo: Wow. What type of writing do you do?

Vannie: It depends. Sometimes I write about the people I met, or past experiences.

Elo: I would love to read something, if you don’t mind.

Vannie: (chuckles nervously) Sure. Some of it is kinda corny, and sorta depressing. I don’t think any of it has a happy ending.

Elo: Even so. I might even know another side of you.

(Vannie blushes as they arrive in front of her house)

Vannie: Um, this is me, I guess.

Elo: Nice place. The location is convenient as well.

Vannie: (looking confused) How so?

(Elo point to the house over and chuckles)

Elo: That’s my house.

(Shocked and speechless. She said good night and walked inside. She looked back and couldn’t help but smile at him. She went inside. As the night went on, she couldn’t stop thinking of him. She wanted to know more)

*Next day*

(Elo was out on a run, while Vannie was sitting on the porch, reading her book. He stops.)

Elo: In the books again?

(Vannie chuckles)

Vannie: Kinda. I can’t just not continue an interesting book. Plus it’s an interesting history.

Elo: May I ask what your reading?

Vannie: Scarlet Letter. History assignment.

Elo: Right. College girl. (Smiles intimately)

(Smiling and blushing, she tried getting words out, but his smile blocked the words.)

Elo: See you later.

(Elo ran inside. Vannie couldn’t stop smiling. As the day went on, they kept seeing each other through the window, or walking out the door. Vannie trying to build the courage to come to Elo and ask him to hang out. She goes and knocks on his door. He opens the door.)

Elo: What’s up, school girl?

Vannie: (chuckles) I actually came by because I was taking a break and I wondered if you wanted to hang out.

Elo: Took your nose out the books to realize the world was still spinning, huh?

Vannie: You can say that. (Blushes)

Elo: Yeah, we can hang out. Give me a few to get washed up?

Vannie: Yeah. Absolutely. Come by when your ready.

*half hour later*

(Elo knocks on Vannie door. She opens.)

Elo: Still wanna hang out?

Vannie: Yeah!

(Grabs sweater)

Vannie: There’s this diner, and they have amazing milkshakes. What do you say?

Elo: How will I say no to milkshakes?

(Vannie laughs. The walk down the steps and towards the diner. They talk.)

Vannie: So what do you do? I mean, other than run.

Elo: I do music. I write and sing.

Vannie: Impressive. I’d love to hear some of your stuff.

Elo: How about we make a deal?

Vannie: I’m listening.

Elo: I read your writings, and you listen to my music.

Vannie: Agreed.

(They arrive at the diner, and sit in booth, away from the loud crowd. They smile at each other. The waiter comes and ask for their order. Ordering a milkshake and fries.)

Elo: Fries?

Vannie: What?

Elo: Who eats fries with a milkshake?

Vannie: You clearly don’t live life to the fullest.

(Elo and Vannie laugh. The milkshake and fries arrive.)

Elo: Do you normally do this?

Vannie: No. Only people who know my secrets are people I actually like, which is rare.

Elo: Did you just admit you like me?

(Blushes and tries to ignore.)

Vannie: (Rolls eyes) Just try the fries and shake.

(Elo dips the fries in the milkshake.)

Elo: This is actually good. So point to you.

Vannie: See?! (Laughs) I wouldn’t lie to you.

Elo: I underestimated you.

Vannie: There’s a lot we still need to know of each other. This is part one. What do you say we go somewhere else?

Elo: I’d like that.

(They leave the diner and walk towards a park. It was dark. You could see the stars without the disturbing street lights.)

Vannie: Can I ask you something?

Elo: Of course.

Vannie: I can tell there’s more to you than meets the eye. And I don’t know how to ask it without it sounding like I’m overstepping, or disrespecting. And I really want to know more of you. Is there something I should know?

Elo: There's a lot you should know actually. But I'll say this. Time reveals all. With that being said, ask me something specific.

(They arrive to the park. Not too far from home. They sit on the swings. Look up at the sky.)

Vannie: Um, what made you be invested into music?

Elo: Music is timeless. What I write, compose, record. It's written in time forever. You can never take that away from me. Makes sense?

Vannie: Yeah. That’s how I feel about my writing. I go somewhere else. Become someone else. Gives me a chance to escape reality.

Elo: Exactly. Everything else becomes nonexistent.

(Vannie looks at Elo.)

Vannie: Um, I want to do something and it might be a little... reckless.

Elo: Rob a bank?

Vannie: That’s not reckless. That’s idiocy.

(Elo laughed)

Elo: What would you like to do?

(Vannie stand and gets closer to Elo. She bites her bottoms lip.)

Vannie: I really, really want to kiss you.

(Elo looks at Vannie. Looking questioned.)

Elo: Are you sure, you want to do that?

(Vannie takes a deep breath.)

Vannie: Yes. And I think, that if I don’t, I might regret it.

(Vannie steps closer. Takes a deep breath. Looks at Elo. Leans in. Kisses Elo. Her heart starts racing. He stands, grabs her face, and kisses her back intensely. The kiss lasted over a minute, and Vannie’s heart was beating so fast, almost went through her chest. They stop. Elo looks at Vannie. He smiles.)

Vannie: You responded?

Elo: Was I not supposed to?

Vannie: I wasn’t expecting it. Like I said, it was a bit reckless.

Elo: Absolutely. (Looks up at the sky.) Night is surely beautiful.

(Vannies smilies, and looks up.)

Vannie: It’s been perfect.

(After a while, they decided it’s getting late and walk home.)

Vannie: I had fun tonight.

Elo: I did, too.

Vannie: Would it be possible to do it again? Soon?

Elo: Of course. But next time, I’m surprising.

Vannie: Deal.

(They kiss good night. Elo and Vannie head inside.)
