Was It Meant to Be?

Chapter 1

How do you lay next to the guy you fell head-over-heels for, knowing that he treats you like a friend or sometimes not even like you're the most important thing in his life? Yeah, I know, you can't answer that. They always say that true love never fails, it may bend at some points in time, but it will never break. So why does it feel like your heart is in a million pieces? Moral point is that you never know how the other person feels for you. They can tell you a thousand times but if they don’t show you then what’s its really worth?

My name… Ha. Funny you should mention it. I’m somebody with a point, but if you insist in knowing, its Cheryl — Cheryl Graham. Yes, I currently attend High School — Riverdale to be exact. As I’m talking to myself in my head, I’m walking through the doors now. Wow. This place is such hell. Thank goodness this is my last year. I didn’t quite fit into any of the groups they had going on. There were the Jocks, the Nerds, the Hoes, the Band Squad and then just me. I think once or twice within my school year here, I tried to fit into one of these groups. SUCKS. Being a mid-class girl didn’t help here, compared to the girls here with their fake boob and asses. Everything on me was small but real.

“Cheryl! Hellurrrr,” Kristy said as she interrupted my thoughts. Kristy was my next-door neighbor, but also my best friend, since we literally grew up together.

“Are we going to that party tonight?” Kristy asked.

“I’m not sure if I want to go Kris…That’s more of a you thing than us thing.”

“Maybe it can be an us thing if you give it a chance... C’mon! Please.” Kristy begged.

After starring at her for a good two minutes and seeing how puppy-eyed she was, I finally said “One hour tops.” I’ve never seen her so happy in my entire life. It was like giving a two-year-old child candy for the first time. She was more excited about me going because she would want to get me dressed. I love Kristy to death but the way she dresses herself isn’t my style.

“Yay! Now listen, we can go over the details about your outfit and hair at lunch. See ya.” Kristy said and then disappear within the crowded hallway.

Now I know what you're thinking, why didn’t I tell Kris that I will dress myself.? Yeah, yeah. On the truth side, I kind of like the way she dresses, because she gets attention from some very cute guys. My thing is that I am not as thin as Kristy, I am a little bit heavier boned than she is. This should be interesting to see what she has in store for me to wear. I started walking to Geometry — I literally hate this class. Maybe today won’t be so bad. I walked with my head down and didn’t look up, came to a complete stop and ended up in front of Room 256. Yes Geometry. Well… Here goes nothing. I opened the door and obviously there are no seats available in the front.

“Take your seat Ms. Graham or do you need an escort?” Mrs. Mendoza stated.

I rolled my eyes at her and started walking to the back of the class. The back of the class smelled like musty dirty clothes, like nobody's children take a bath at night. I literally had two options — sit next to germy boy (we call him that because he loves to play with his boogers) or a Jock. Yes, I know I’m making a big deal of sitting next to a Jock but what you don’t know about this Jock is that he is a huge flirt. He flirts with every girl that comes his way, he never approaches them. He swears he’s the shit. It’s annoying, but, aye you guessed it, I sat right next to him.

At first, he didn’t realize I was next to him and I tried to keep it that way.

“Okay class,” Ms. Graham began. “As you all are aware, I am going on a trip for two weeks and won’t be in class, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have work to do.” The class began to boo her. “The assignment I am leaving you with today will take up until I return, so there is not one single excuse as to why it is not completed. Now for this assignment you must write about your partner's life. Get to know them. I already put everyone's names in a container, all you must do is choose a paper and that states who your partner is. No trading or complaining.”

Silence came about the room, everyone wanted to know who was going to get who and all we could do was guess by the way their faces look when they get the name. Ms. Graham walked around the room letting everyone pick a paper. She finally got to me and there were literally only two pieces of paper left. Who could this be? I closed my eyes and could hear everyone laughing when I opened my eyes, Ms. Graham was back at her desk.

“Okay, now that everyone has received their partners, for the last 30 minutes of class we are going to pair up and start our papers.” Ms. Graham stated. I was hesitant to open my little square paper. Everybody started pairing up and I decided to check mine out. I opened the paper and just my luck, I got partnered with Rocco – the Jock.

Sigh.

I turned to Rocco.

“Hello Rocco, I guess we are partners for this assignment,” I said nervously. Don’t get me wrong, he could be a player, slut, whore, whatever you want to call it. Rocco was so handsome. His facial features matched his jawline so perfectly. His hair was dreaded and was dyed red at the top. He was tall — I’ll say about 6’2 and muscular. I started to bite my lip at the thought of him being shirtless and probably seeing a six pack and V cut underneath them clothes. The way —

“Hello there gorgeous, I believe your name is Kelsey” He smiled.

“Yes, this is she,” I said shyly.

Wow did I just say that as if I am talking on the phone. This moment couldn’t get any worst.

“Can I just say you are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen!” He said with a smirk.

“Thank you.”

I couldn’t hold in my smile, so I covered my mouth. I know what you’re thinking. How can I fall victim to his games when I know all his moves? The thing is, I always had a crush on Rocco and sometimes feel like I am in love with him. It sounds crazy to be in love with someone that doesn’t know you or anything.
