We Talked About Rocks...

I didn't realize that the most interesting thing we would talk about was going to be about rocks. I guess he wants to be a geologist or something.

I guess you could say that I was feeling quite excited about this date. We have been texting for quite a while and we seemed to be hitting it off pretty well. So when he invited me to go hiking and see the fall foliage, I was pretty pumped. I got ready and put on my best looking pair of work out pants, the ones that made my booty look very nice, and a cute black t-shirt and my new grey and black sneakers. I pulled my hair up into a tight ponytail and grabbed my black Nike drawstring bag, I was ready.

He had said that he will pick me up from my house so I went outside to wait for him. I anxiously waited for a car to pull up onto my street, I watched car after car zoom past me. Just as I was about to reach for my phone to text him I hear a car honk, only to look up and come face to face with a white Mini Cooper pulling into my street. I should mention that this guy happens to be over 6 feet tall, and there is nothing wrong with a Mini Cooper but isn't it a bit too small for a tall person? I got in and an odor of what smelled like dirty socks hit me in the face. My goodness my eyes were tearing up before I even buckled up! And so the date began.

I swear to you this was not the same guy who I have been texting. Maybe, like girls, he had a co-author, if that is true then I should be on a date with that guy. Because he could not get a complete sentence out of his mouth and he did not say anything intelligent at all, need I explain to you fellow readers that we had some very intelligent and fascinating conversations over text. Of course I tried to be understanding, maybe he was nervous? So I led the small talk. Because if I'm being honest it was a very nice day, and there was absolutely no chance of rain. That excruciating 40 min drive was something I wish to never relive, ever again. We finally got to the mountain and of course we had to start at the bottom. So we started our journey up the mountain. We were having the most meaningless conversations in history. We had many, MANY awkward silences, until he saw a rock that he really liked.

"Wow look at that cool rock! I really like how big and round it is..."

"Um yea that's um a... cool rock..." I reply in confusion.

Now this is where he got really excited,

"And, and look at that one over there! I bet even I can't lift that one. Or look at this one its so pretty and colorful! It's amazing how each and every rock is different from the next one."

Yea, just like people and animals and stars, but you don't see me pointing that out. He just keeps going on and on about those dull clumps of dirt. I zoned out. I couldn't even pretend to care anymore. We finally got to the top of the mountain we sat down and rested and headed back down. Nothing happened in that time period. Three hours had past since we started the hike up. We got in the car and he started telling me about his past girlfriend who he loved unconditionally but she cheated on him. Yes this is definitely what I wanted to hear on the first date. Please tell me more. Driving back was also quite painful. But my favorite part of this date was when two blocks from my house, he decided to show off in his Mini Cooper, and tried to accelerate very quickly. His car broke down. We pulled over to the side of the road and he tried to see what was wrong. I looked at him and said,

"You know what, I live pretty close by and um, I think I'll just walk home."

He offered to walk me home but I said that I could walk by myself thank you very much. I never heard from him again which I am eternally grateful for. Never again will I even think about going on a hike on the first date. Hell no.
