What Are ENFJ Male Children Like?

A spotlight on one of the MBTI personality types

The ENFJ (Extraverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging) males are fascinating, unique individuals. The ENFJ personality type makes up only two percent of the overall population, and only 31 percent of ENFJ's are actually male. The purpose of this article is to help shed a little light on what this personality type is like as children.

ENFJ children are very warm, generally obedient, friendly, mature, quick to help others, and futuristic in their thinking. They are extremely compassionate, and oftentimes they are made fun of in grade school, because they tend to not appear very "normal" to other children. Most of the time they are great listeners to their parents, because they have a natural need to please those in authority. Most parents will not have too many issues with their ENFJ child. If they do receive discipline of any kind, they will usually take it to heart, and not make the same mistake again.

ENFJ children are incredibly friendly, and they usually talk to strangers with ease, which can sometimes be a good thing, and sometimes a bad thing. Because they are naturally extroverted, it is pretty easy for them to strike up a conversation that is full of deep questions. Another interesting thing about ENFJ boys is that they will be able to talk to adults, and older children with ease, because they are usually so mature. As children, they are great at including other children who may feel left out in group settings. It is easy for them to put themselves in the shoes of others, and they don't want anyone to ever have to feel lonely or sad. This being said, they are commonly drawn to more introverted personality types. Though ENFJ's enjoy being around people, they need a good amount of alone time to recharge and daydream.

There are times when they may come across as too sensitive as the majority of other boys will be much more aggressive and assertive in nature. ENFJ's hate anything that is too physical, or anything that requires them to fight or use brute force. This being the case, a lot of ENFJ boys may not be as excited about tactical sports. Most of the time ENFJ's will steer clear of conflict or altercations, which may lead to physical combat. Some of them may enjoy other, less hands-on sports, such as track, cross country, swimming, or tennis. They may also be interested in the fine arts as well.

ENFJ's are highly emotional though they may try to act more even keeled around their families and friends. They may feel slightly alienated from other boys who act more macho and stoic. They may actually have more friends who are female, because they may feel like they have more in common with them, at least in the way in which they think and perceive the world.

ENFJ children also cannot help but always be thinking about, or dreaming about the future. They also commonly enjoy fantasy or science fiction, and futuristic-type books and movies. ENFJ types love talking about what they could be when they grow up, or what they want their future spouse to be like, or how many kids they think they want to have one day. They are always thinking about possibilities, and they love to make plans for the future that are detailed, yet very big picture at the same time.

If you have an ENFJ son for a child, consider yourself blessed, and keep in mind that they are commonly misunderstood by other personality types. They are beautiful, strong, and creative people, and they will grow up and make wonderful adults one day... just wait and you will see.
