What Are You Giving Your Sweetheart for Valentine’s Day?
Valentine's is a reminder to take time for each other.
Don't stress over a Valentine's gift.
Valentine's gift giving can be quite tricky especially since it follows Christmas. But let me make this task easy for you. I’ve lived thru many Valentine's Days, and I’ve found the answer. The first thing to do is, don’t stress. It is not the end of the world if you do not have the perfect idea or even receive the perfect gift from your sweetheart. Relax and release the pressure you might be feeling, that is, unless you are in the doghouse.
The way you handle this lovers holiday may resemble the way you handle your relationship. If you have to purchase the most expensive ring, piece of jewelry, go to the most exclusive restaurant or other lavish things you might try to do, you could be in for a letdown or rude awakening. Here’s a few tried and true ideas that will be a big hit with your babe.
Give your time to the one you love.
First off, your time is the most precious gift you can give to someone you love. Give your undivided attention to your love, your spouse. Turn off the television, no video games, turn off your cell phone for an hour to talk and gaze into each other’s eyes. This gesture says that you truly appreciate your sweetie and will lay aside all your plans to make her happy.
Write a love letter using their name as an acronym to define your adoration for him. Say his name is Robert: R = Real. You appreciate how real and genuine he is as a person. O = Only. He is the only one for you. B = Brilliant. He is the most brilliant, intelligent person on earth. You get my drift. If her name is Betty, try this. B = Budding like a flower in bloom. E = Expert. She is an expert (fill in the blank). You get the point.
Valentine's Day is also about dreaming. Take this time to remind each other about the dreams you share together. Remind each other the reason you are together and why you will always be together. The dream of home ownership, raising beautiful children, traveling, owning a business and retiring. Make a game of it, each of you jot down on a piece of paper the dreams you have together.
Tangible gifts always work.
I know that I’ve mentioned non-tangible things, but here are some tangible things if you plan on purchasing something but are clueless. Following are some ideas other than the usual flowers, cards, candy, jewelry, or going to a restaurant.
Think about what will enhance his life or help her take time for herself. Get him apparel with his initials on it. A dress shirt, a tie, a robe or even socks with his initials engraved. A fine writing instrument. Get him something he’ll enjoy doing as a hobby. Model car, train set or slot cars. Drones are very popular today, maybe he’ll like a quadcopter.
It is said that Valentine's Day is for ladies, and they can be more difficult to please indeed, I know. Ladies, girls, women, they love gifts, they want to be indulged and highly thought of. Some want you to go deep in your pockets and pull out a rabbit, next to the impossible. Go to Groupon and find a coupon for something extravagant at a super discount and present it to her. You can find spa, diffuser, exercise class and restaurant coupons and many cool things thru the site. Women mostly want to be loved and appreciated. Trust me though, she won’t turn down the keys to a new car. Above all, do something from your heart.
