Part 1/2

Nelson was the most popular guy in his highschool. Even though it was a big town, he was still known all over. He got to skip class, go to all the parties on Friday and Saturday nights, and have all his friends glorify his persona. He even thought about running for prom king since it’s his senior year. Forget it, he was the biggest extrovert anyone can possibly think of. Nelson was a pretty good looking guy, but it’s been a while since he was able to be in a steady relationship. It wasn’t really an interest of his since he got catfished a few months ago from a girl that lives in Ohio rather than in his city, Westfield. All he was doing was going with the flow.

Kassandra was the biggest introvert in her highschool. She hated participating in school events and finding the need to socialize with dimwits. She was the type to stay at home to draw and read. Her ideal Friday night was to go inside of her bath tub and vibe to her underground music. She only had four friends in that whole school. But when it came to dating, was she a player. But of course, she never dated anyone in her school cause that would mean people would have to know her status. She dated a lot, but only had one serious relationship in her life. She recently broke out of that relationship after she caught her boyfriend cheating on her. She was under going a really tough break up since she really cared about him. All these guys on her social media’s timeline weren’t really grabbing her attention. There were so many guys at Westfield High she couldn’t believe she hasn’t come across one guy she actually liked.

One day in math class, the class she always finished first cause she was always the book smart type, something told her to go on her phone. As she’s scrolling down her feed, she comes across to this picture of this one guy she'd never even seen before. He was in a picture of someone she knew in school but never understood why she never saw him. His black hair was all luscious and wavy. His face was so smooth. His smile was a major killer. She found that sparkle in his eyes, and it was all through a phone.

Kassandra did her investigation, like every other girl, and she found out it was his last year in highschool. She also found out he was a party animal, which was something she was totally turned off by. However, she ignored that cause she trusted her instincts that he wasn’t exactly the asshole type of popular guy. Luckily, she was friends with someone in her math class, a senior girl.

The next day Kassandra enters class actually excited for once. “Hey, Pamela, can I ask you something?” Kassandra casually asked.

“If it’s something math related you are coming to the wrong person,” Pamela said.

She laughed but asked her desired question, “Do you know a guy named Nelson that goes to school here? He’s a senior.”

Pamela snapped her neck “How could you not know him? That’s my boy.” Kassandra felt like she hit the jackpot in that moment. This is her chance to have a conversation with Nelson.

“Oh, well I was wondering maybe one day the three of us can just hangout and get to know each other better, you know?” Kass established. Pamela already knew Kassandra wanted to get Nelson more, so she took matters into her own hands.

Pamela had English class with Nelson. Once class ended she stopped him abruptly and said “So Nelson I got a girl really digging you and I think you should say hi. The best part is, she goes to school here, so you know she’s real.” Nelson gave Pam the oh-no-you-didn’t look but was fondly surprised.

“Really? What does she look like?” He interestingly asked. She took out her phone and went on Kassandra’s profile and gave it to him. Nelson was so mesmerized he wouldn’t even give her phone back. In that moment he knew, something had to happen.

Over the weekend, Kassandra's big sister gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. Of course she had to capture this moment and share it with the world. The next thing you know, she receives a friend request from the one and only, Nelson.

As excited as she was for having her nephew enter the universe, she was profoundly excited jumping for joy when Nelson acknowledged her. In her head, she had a million things running. She kept wondering if she should be the first one to message him. She couldn’t tell the difference between friendliness and desperation. “Will I look too interested?” she asked herself. Sometimes, life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Being bold was the only way she can actually initiate a conversation since he wasn’t making any sudden moves. “Hey there,” she texted and she sent it impulsively.

-BUZZ BUZZ- Nelson’s phone went off. He discovered that he received a notificationfrom his social media. “NEW MESSAGE FROM KASSANDRA” his screen displayed. He looked at it and smiled. He knew why she messaged him, so he didn’t feel weird about it at all. He actually had a sparking interest in her as well.

-BUZZ BUZZ- Kass’s phone went off. She was so hesitant to look at it cause her mind was full of so many thoughts. “Maybe someone just liked my last status that I posted, nothing too special.” She doubted herself. She couldn’t hold it in and turned her phone finally. Her face glowed up. Nelson responded, “Oh, hi!” At that moment she wanted to jump, shout, do a rain dance or something that’ll express her excitement. “Okay play it cool, you don’t want to look like a total dork.” she thought.

Nelson was waiting all night for her response. That was the only thing on his mind today. After taking a good look at Kass's profile, he kept wondering why he never saw her in all his four years of highschool. He found out that she was a junior, which explains why he never even knew about her. “Maybe she’s just busy doing something I can’t wait to know about.” He said to himself.

-BUZZ BUZZ – A message went through his phone. “What are you up to?” She asked. From then on Nelson was talking to her about his whole day. They exchanged their lives, interests, and goals with each other that night.

“So when are you going to say ‘hi’ to me?” Nelson asked politely. She was so startled, but she knew she had to suck it up and go big or go home.

“Tomorrow morning after first period,” She promised. They spoke so much that it was 2 in the morning by the time they said goodnight to each other.

The next day at school Kass came out from her first period art class. She knew exactly where his locker was, but she was walking with her friend Vanessa so she wouldn’t panic too much. Vanessa knew why Kass was acting all different, so she kept reassuring to her that it all was going to be okay. Kass didn’t see him at his locker, so she just kept walking forward to her next class. She was feeling a little bummed out, until he came out late from his class. Panic mode turned on inside of her. It’s about to happen. They locked eyes and Nelson finally said “Hi.” He said it so charismatically that Kass didn’t know what else to do but blush, wave, and smile. After that moment, Kass felt the whole highlight of her high school life.

They kept messaging each other after their special moment. Nelson invited her to go see him during his graphic print class. Graphic print was a place for all the senior class to relax and not really do too much work. Since Kass was already ahead in all her classes, she went. She was being extra nervous than usual, but she still went. It was the first time they spoke to each other. It was such an amazing bond they shared with each other. Other people in the room can feel the chemistry in between them. The way they looked at each other and laughed at each other’s jokes. He smiled and she glistened. Their souls both felt refreshed as if one of them said, “There you are, I’ve been looking for you.”
