The first period arrives and Mrs. Tillman, our English teacher, has some exciting news as she reveals it on the dashboard.

"Okay class, today has come and every one of you is to be part of the cast of the Beowulf video story project I have arranged. Please feel free to get in groups of four and sign your names up on the dashboard as per group. Thank you!" Mrs. Tillman shouted to the classroom.

I am still recollecting my thoughts about yesterday with Chris and apparently, he seems absent today as his seat remains empty. I wonder what happened.

"Hey, you!" A familiar male voice shouts behind my back.

I turn around to see a group of three: Nicolas Dizio, Natalia Vil, and Andrea Machado. They were all from different parts of Colombia and they all had great hair.

"Would you like to join our group? We are missing one more and I heard you speak Spanish, too?" Nicolas says.

[Ha-ha] "Yes, I'm in." I say.

Nicolas was this suave, humorous kid who apparently had it easy with the girls in school. He was always surrounded by pretty girls and would never hang with other boy classmates yet he had guy friends, though. I've heard he would throw crazy parties, too. And that his older brother was hot and traveled a lot. It kept me curious about his older brother. Never knew why.

Andrea approaches me and asks if I would be interested in playing Beowulf in the video story. I chuckled,--"Really? Me?"

"Hi, you're Maria, right? My name is Natalia. Please, sit with us!" Natalia says.

"After we plan our video project in class, you can all come to my house after school ends if you'll want. This is our last period so we can all walk straight to the parking lot and leave to my house." Nicolas suggests.

"Let me ask my mother first. She usually picks me up after school right around the corner," I say.

"You can ask if you could sleep over. I have three extra rooms at my house. My brother and his girlfriend Margie just got into town from New York, too so they are also staying over. But there's plenty of room." Nicolas says.

"Oh my God, for real? I met your brother last year and I had the biggest crush on him! I remember he moved to New York last year for school, right?" Andrea says while making a scene.

[GULP] Oh God, Andrea likes him. Which means, he's one of those types of heartbreakers. Andrea could win him over, she's really pretty. Then again, I don't know his type so depending on how Margie looks, I'll know.

"Do you know his girlfriend, Margie?" I whisper to Andrea.

"Uh, yeah... she's pretty. Very... Scarlet Johansson look."

Ah great.

"Oh, cool," I say awkwardly.

Nicolas' brother popped in my head a few times since I'd see him on the hallways, sometime last year. We locked eyes once but we never saw each other like that after. It was like an illusion and then disappeared. I've always thought he was interesting but never attractive. He was always holding an acoustic guitar over the shoulder or playing the drums really loud after school in band practice.

Bell rings and class ends. I go to the bathroom to change into new clothes since I was planning to go to Nicolas' house after. 'Wouldn't want his brother see me with all-day clothes. [Sigh.]

I get outside and walk towards the senior parking lot where Nicolas parks. The girls and I appear from afar and meet up as Nicolas is backing up his green jeep to pick us up. Natalia gets a brown long looking cigarette and she lights it up as we ride to Nicolas' home.

"Pass it to Maria! [Ha-ha-ha!]" Nicolas yells and looks at me through his driver mirror and winks at me.

"No! I don't smoke." I shout.

"WHHHHAAAT!?" Nicolas says.

"I've never done drugs!"

Why do all these kids keep offering me drugs?

"But try it! it'd be fun! It won't make you feel bad, at all."

"Nico, leave her alone! She doesn't want to do it. Don't force the poor girl!" Andrea says while she hits the blunt.

"Maria, but let me know when you want to do it. I want to be your first!"

[Ha-ha-ha-ha!] Nicolas jokes.

"Yeah, yeah. Ok, jackass." I reply teasingly.

Finally, we all arrive at Nicolas' house and his mom comes out the door to greet us all.

"Wow! Look at all these beauties, Nicolas! My name is Lena. Come, come--please make yourself at home. You all made it in time, I just made some appetizers!" Nicolas' mother welcomes us.

"Wow, these statues are divine, Lena!" I say in shock.

"Mom, this is Maria and she's half Russian!" Nicolas introduces me to his mother.

"Hello, Maria! Privet, Privet!" his mom walks to me to say hello.

My purse accidentally falls on the floor and I reach down to get it. I get up and Andres comes out of his room shirtless and walks over to the main door where we all were reuniting.

[GASP!]

"But what are you doing walking shirtless, son? You want these poor girls to faint here? Lena jokes to his older son, Andres.

"[Ha-ha] The very least, mother! I'm not even close to doing so!"

"Don't be so modest," I say.

Everyone laughs and stops after I opened my dumb mouth.

"And you must be...?" Andres directs to me and smiles from ear to ear while walking towards me.

"I am here to participate in a class project with your brother. My name is Maria. Sorry about th—".

He cuts me off before I finish my sentence.

"And what project is that?"

"Beowulf."

"I see. Do you play the character 'Beowulf'?"

"I do, yes. [Ha-ha] How did you know?"

Andres looks through me with a smirk and spies over me for a good minute while biting on an apple.

Damn. He's getting to me now.

"I believe it's the blonde. Blue eyes. No?-- Wasn't Beowulf, a blonde warrior?" he asks the rest in thought.

"Yes, he was!" Andrea exclaims.

"See?" Andres looks at me and winks at me.

"Andres, where's Margie? Is she going to join us at dinner?" Lena asks Andres.

Andres loses focus and rushes to his room to get Margie to join us.

Margie comes in with just showered wet hair and looks breathtaking. I see what Andres sees in her and I must say he's got a type. I like her even more because she looks so vulnerable and lost yet precious and delicate.

"Hey, guys! I'm Margie, I just flew in from New York." Margie kindly introduces herself.

I observe Andres and Margie's body language but it seemed sort of a lost connection. Like if he was distracted from something. Or someone. I hope it wasn't from me. Or maybe I do hope so since I like him so much all of a sudden. He's got some nerve to look at me in the eyes like that. Look at his girlfriend!? Why is he playing with fire?? Isn't she enough?! She's gorgeous, wow!.

"I am in the film industry back home so I'd love to help you guys with this project!" Margie says, enlightened.

"Well, while you guys do that, I'm going to go ahead and play some beats in my room," Andres says as he touches Margie's shoulder as a sign.

"You play drums?" I ask.

"I do. Would you like to check it out real quick?"

"Yeah, I'd love to!"

Margie looks at me confused but goes outside with the rest of the group and ignores Andres' touch over-the-shoulder as a sign to go to his room.

As I enter Andres' room, I have enlightened myself.

"Wow! You must love coming back to your dungeon. This place looks incredible!"

From foreign statues to very expensive gear toys, such as DSLR Cameras everywhere and guitars and other musical equipment, too. Gigantic rock star posters all over the walls.

"[Ha-ha] Thanks. I have stuff all over the place. I need to clean it up a bit. Are you guys coming back here for the project the rest of the week, or--?"

"I believe so. It's due next week. Gladly, we have plenty of time," I say.

"Great. I'll be home for the rest of the month. Margie will be coming back to the city at the end of this week, unfortunately," he says.

"Well, good. Because she'd be a good help, then," I respond jokingly.

"That doesn't mean you could steal her from me, Maria," he says.

"I better go do this thing. I don't want to be that lazy movie star they all wait on."

"Oh, I bet you won't. You'll do great. I'm glad you came by actually," he says.

"I'm glad, too," I say.

I go outside the patio where Nicolas, Andrea, Margie, and Natalia were hanging and I call Margie from inside to tell her something,

"Hey! Andres is waiting for you in his room. Go have fun, you two! You don't want to hang around us, losers anyway," I tell her while I look at her piercing eyes that could kill a truck.

"Are you kidding? I love doing this. Plus Andres gets too focused on music sometimes. I'm so adventurous I think I bore him most of the time. I'll catch up with you guys later now!" she says while going back in the house.

God. She's blind. But she's pretty, which makes her more into douchebags instead of interesting guys like Andres. Must be his swag or something usually all women like. The charm that certain men skill from. Having charm is quite exquisite for someone. It's almost a gift but in the end easy to skill. Well there you have it, Andres had such charm he could probably have any good looking girl he wanted. Good for him.

Once the Beowulf project filming part was done, we all four classmates sat down to touch upon some editing. Margie had already left to visit some friends of her that live in town but Andres kept himself busy in his room with some mellow music on.

"I think we're going to nail this project. I just need to pass this class," Nicolas says.

"After jumping that canal, I think we better get an A," I respond.

"[Ha-ha-ha] Maria did jump that canal! The recording looks spot on. Mrs. Tillman will love this idea," Natalia says.

We all grab our bags and begin to get ready to leave home. Nicolas offers to drop us all home and Andres comes out of his room to offer the gesture, too.

"I can take Maria home if she lets me," Andres says.

"Go ahead. I am going to take Andrea and Natalia and they live ten minutes from here," Nicolas says looking a bit tired.

We all say our goodbyes and I oversee Andres getting his car keys and make a quick trip to his room once more.

"You have everything you need?"

"Yes, yep! I do." I say a bit nervous.

I get inside Andres' car and I instruct him directions to my house.

"Well, I was going to suggest to go somewhere to chat and grab a drink. Or would you like me to take you straight home? Up to you," Andres suggests.

[GULP]

Oh, God. Here it is. Another boy entering my life just like that. He's with Margie so I had to say something to let him know he's not single. I can't go with him after hours to get a "drink"? What if it's too much to handle and I can't speak? He's so intimidating and smart. He knows I am uncomfortable. Why did he want to take me home? So he can invite me to have a drink with him while Margie was out having fun with his friends? Maybe he was jealous that she was out and about without him and he saw an opportunity with me? Ugh, what am I saying?

"I can't. How about this weekend? Would Margie be okay with that?" I respond.

"Well, she will be in the city. I will give you a call this week so we can arrange this then," he says.

"That'd be great," I say.

Andres drops me off at home and overlooks my walk heading to my door and whistles at me.

"Hey, you! You forgot your keys, Beowulf."

I froze as I look like a total idiot for having forgotten my house keys and turned around blushed.

"I'm going to need that, [Ha-ha.]"

Andres grabs my lanyard and pulls it towards him as he watches me struggle to get my keys from him.

"Do you tease innocent girls this easy? Don't you have better things to do?" I joked.

"This right here is what I've been dying to do since you arrived at my house. Tease you."

Man, he's good.

I quickly blush my cheeks out and thank him for driving me home.

"I hope I'll see you soon, Dizio," I say with a smile.

"Oh, you will. Have a good night, Maria."

His car drives off and the quiet humid night in Miami seemed very serene. It's almost midnight and it's the first time I am falling for a guy this easily. What's gotten into me? Is Andres a good guy to get to know? I mean his family is obviously loaded and his mom Russians, apparently. But that's not the point. It's chemistry. The chemistry is fire and lava combined. Why does he like me that much? I'm just a nobody. Maybe it's the type. He likes blondes, after all. His eyes are the perfect combination of tranquility and sexual wavelengths. I couldn't wait to see him again.

We'll see, Beowulf.
