Will It Be Love?

A Short Story of a Boy and a Girl Awaiting to Find the One...

The dramatic alarm yells as a warning. I'm leaving my comfort zone. With my heart low, afraid to come out again, I open the broken screen door.

There it is, glistening in the evening light. The car I am much too familiar with. Only have I ever seen it through the four-inch screen of my phone. A perfect blend of day and night, staring deep into my soul, like a danger luring me in. The keep out sign forcing me to have an ache to pass. I walk down three steps. A warm breeze takes my hair and the bottom of my cardigan in an irregular pattern. With each step, the car comes closer and the zipper hitting the back of my gladiators becomes louder. It's the only sound I hear. The voices in my head shout so loudly, I can no longer comprehend. They're all talking as fast as my heart is beating. Every boy that I've ever met all flash through my mind at once. A half of a second nightmare. I look to my left and to my right wondering if anyone can hear the yells from my mind or the drum from my heart.

The handle stares me dead in the eye. Do I open it? Do I open this door and risk reopening my frayed heart? Before my mind could think of an answer, I'm sitting inside. A bright cherry lost in the night, the inside is. Yet another beautiful contrast that my eyes enjoy. My mind wanted to know who was driving but my heart didn't. My heart didn't want to fall in love at first sight.

My eyes swing to the left and get caught in a photograph. The exact piece of art I was nervous to see. What is left of the sunlight reflects off of his skin like the sun upon the ocean. His hair is as deep as the black interior. A complexion that I've always dreamed of, pure and radiant. Whilst smirking, he drove us away.

We don't talk much but I don't mind. The wind still blowing my hair around is all I can focus on anyway. With the windows down, the music loud and the calm evening, it's all different. Even though chills run down my body from the cool night, there's warmth inside too.

Before the night began, I knew we were going to kiss at some point. I wasn't exactly ready for such a thing. Not because of the kiss itself, but because it could either be just a kiss or so much more.

He puts on a TV show and as a couple of people who just met, we sit on his bed awkwardly watching. Soon enough, I feel him looking at me. I keep my focus on the screen but he keeps focusing on me, hoping I'd turn my head in his direction. Once again, a quick memory flashes through. I hope this will be worth it. I feel his finger touch the bottom of my chin ever so lightly. With one movement he turns my head and pulls me into him. My lips delicately touch his, slowly and softly. We pull away and gaze into each other's oceanic eyes. A once cold ocean appears to have a sunrise. Our lips ache for more and meet again. As a spark shoots through the both of us, my lips pull him in through each deep kiss. He follows through each pull, glides his hand around to the middle of my back and leans me down until my back touches the bed. A fire filled with emotions and passion blaze through me. He takes control, not with aggression but with a force I've never felt before. Our kiss quickens and our tongues dance, exploring every inch of our mouths. My hands wrap around his head, and my fingertips fondle through his hair, drawing him in deeper.
