Worst. Date. Ever.

Hockey games are fun, right?

The worst date I have ever been on was when a kid I had known for quite a long time who constantly bugged me to hangout and then I would not hear from him or I would blow him off because of it, asked me to go to a hockey game with him. Being a huge Pittsburgh Penguins fan (and not to mention the seats were awesome), I thought that I would give this kid one last shot. What was the worst that could go wrong?

So, the game started at 7PM and it takes about an hour and fifteen minutes to get to Pittsburgh from where I was living at the time, Youngstown, OH. To be safe, we needed to leave by 5PM to be able to find a parking spot and get into the game with all of the madness that goes on down there. Well, it was getting close to 6PM by the time my date for the night finally arrived, so we were rushed to get down there.

My date picked me up and we were on our way. Although, he did not know where he was going even though he was a HUGE Pittsburgh Penguins fan. I told him where to go and we were cruising in no time. In order to get to Pittsburgh, you have to go through tolls and if you have ever experienced this, you would know that having an EZ-Pass saves your life and makes traveling so much easier. Well, go figure, he forgot his in his other vehicle. We were panicking because we weren't sure if the tolls took credit cards or not because he didn't have any cash on him. Luckily, the tolls took credit cards so we didn't get slowed down too much.

After an awkward car ride down, we finally arrived just in time for the game to start. We made our way to our seats and we no sooner sat down and he hopped right up to go get himself something to drink, not asking if I wanted anything. I let it go for now, I mean he DID ask me to go with him, but I didn't expect him to buy anything. After a bit, he got back and was on his phone for probably 80% of the game. During the first intermission, he asked me if I wanted a drink, then told me he didn't have any money to buy me a drink because he didn't know where he put his credit card. So, I bought myself a drink, sat back down, and waited for the game to start while he went to the restroom at the beginning of the intermission. The second period started and he still wasn't back yet, so I watched the game by myself.

When he finally returned, he got right back on his phone. Then decided to finally watch some of the game with me. For those who aren't hockey fans, the goalie (at the time) was Marc-André Fleury and had been the goalie for since 2005. My date asked me if Fleury no longer played for us and I told him that he was sitting on the bench. Not believing me, he started to argue until he actually saw he was there. A little later on, a newer player for the Penguins, Carl Hagelin, was skating around. He asked who he was and I proceeded to tell him his name. He told me he had NEVER heard of him (some huge hockey fan he is). I told him how he was the "H" of their impressive HBK lineup. After that, it kind of clicked.

As the night went on, he continued to be on his phone and I could not wait for the game to be over to get out of there. We were walking to his Audi when he asked how we got out of the parking garage. There was a ticket that you get when you pull in and use it to pay, which of course, he left it in his car. And there was his credit card right next to it. He paid for parking and we left. The ride home was almost completely silent. I thanked him for bringing me and went into my apartment.

A few days later, he texted me asking me to hangout again. I told him I had zero interest because how he acted the entire night was exactly why we never hung out in the first place. He didn't see what was so wrong about how he acted and I ignored him. It got to the point I actually had to block him on social media and his phone number because he wouldn't leave me alone. I have not talked to him since and I hope to keep it that way. That was the worst date I have ever been on.
