Krampus (Pt. 2)
I thought back to that first memory. The memory I was sure started the slow, but treacherous, path into a dark abyss. A cold wind blew howled inside of me. Swirling through my hollowed legs, up through the gaping hole where my heart used to beat, through my neck, and into the cramped, leaky spaces in my head. No one wanted me. But soon enough that wouldn’t matter. They would come to fear me instead.

Krampus (Pt. 1)
The winter had come early to Frankfurt that year. The wind howled outside in the dark of the night. Snow had fallen and covered the cobbled streets and brick buildings in the most delicate layer. Father gathered my brother and me into the sitting room that Christmas Eve and told us he needed our help. My brother and I were surprised when we saw a brand new piano forte sitting so beautifully by the brightly decorated Christmas tree.

How To Be Perfect
I think I was 13 when I finally started noticing the clumpy, black mascara and smudged, sparkly eye shadow my friends would spend an hour putting on before eighth grade homeroom. I was so jealous of them. I didn't have any of my own make up, and all my mom had were several old Cover Girl eyeshadows, a blue eyeliner pencil from 1987, and a goopy, bubblegum colored, CVS brand lipstick. She was a total tom boy growing up (*GASP* how dare I use that phrase), and never got the make up or fashion memo.
